Mark Hamill Shows Off His Chucky Voice In First Child’s Play Clip

If you’re a horror movie junkie, you might want to pay attention to the next few months. Aside from It: Chapter Two – whose debut trailer is sure to give you nightmares – Orion Pictures and United Artists Releasing are teaming up to bring us Child’s Play, a complete reboot of the 1988 film of the same name. Directed by Lars Klevberg and produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, this reimagining will not feature any involvement from series creator Don Mancini, who instead’s working on the franchise’s new TV show.

In fact, it seems the creative team is looking to eschew tradition across the board. Brad Dourif – who’s played the role of murderous doll Chucky in every movie to date – is not coming back to lend his voice acting talents. Instead, that part’s been given to veteran actor Mark Hamill, which many will know for playing Luke Skywalker.

Although he propelled himself to stardom thanks to his role in the Star Wars franchise, Hamill has also seen success as a voice actor, best known for portraying the Joker in a handful of Batman animated cartoons, films, and even a few video games.

While longtime fans have been treated to snippets of Chucky’s new voice in previously released trailers and teasers, Orion Pictures has finally pulled back the curtain on Hamill’s take on the murderous doll. In a new clip dubbed “Peekaboo,” youngster Andy Barclay is seen hunting for Chucky, who begins tormenting his owner by projecting his voice through a handful of gadgets and electronic devices.

Needless to say, we’re both thrilled and completely horrified by Mark Hamill’s performance, and we can’t wait to see how the film turns out when Child’s Play hits theaters on June 21st. Until then, be sure to check out the new “Peekaboo” clip, which we’ve embedded above for your viewing pleasure.
