A new fan theory may have just fixed ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

A new fan theory may have just fixed ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Thor: Love and Thunder was far off being Marvel’s best-reviewed or highest-grossing film, with audiences not entirely convinced by it for a myriad of reason, but a new fan theory may just fix that.

Sitting not so prettily in the mid-60s on Rotten Tomatoes, Love and Thunder did not get the reception at all like its predecessor Ragnarok and there’s been plenty of talk online as to why that is. Particular criticism went to its tone, with the comedy rapid fire without too many memorable hits. But maybe there is a method to the madness, thanks to a new theory shared on Reddit.

Francis Ford Coppola casts LeBeouf in major new project

Actor Shia LaBeouf has been on another apology tour for his behavior lately. He went quiet after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced against him in 2020, appeared on Jon Bernthal’s podcast to admit his mistakes, and, now, has landed a part in one of the most anticipated movies of the past half-century.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the 36-year-old who now says he is sober will play a part in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. Coppola has eyed making the movie for years, finally is getting around to it now after decades of development hell, is self-financing the project, and has made its other roles something of a family affair for the 83-year-old artist.

Critical horror fans share which movie deaths are the stupidest

Critical horror fans share which movie deaths are the stupidest

For what robust and nuanced strides the genre has made in the modern era, there were always be a part of the horror genre, however small, that will be unable to separate itself from some of the cornier connotations. And, in some ways, this is a blessing in its own right; for what crimes it commits in undermining the aim of horror as a genre, it makes up for it in some of the most over-the-top, gut-busting fatalities to ever be dreamed up.

But not everyone shares the positive experience that comes with nonsensical deaths, and some of the more pessimistic residents of r/horror have taken to calling out the most ridiculous kills to ever come out of the genre.

Ana de Armas baffled by the NC-17 rating for ‘Blonde’

After appearing in almost every blockbuster and independently artistic role imaginable, Ana de Armas is gearing up for the performance of her lifetime in Netflix’s Blonde, a semi-biographical drama by Andrew Dominik that centers around the life of the blonde bombshell herself, Marilyn Monroe.

The movie became a heated topic of debate after gaining an NC-17 rating, an oddity for Netflix, due to its violent and sexually explicit scenes. Now, in a new interview with the French fashion magazine L’Officiel (per The Hollywood Reporter), de Armas has expressed surprise at the mature rating, noting that there are many movies out there with less sexual content.

Fed-up filmgoers name the most unnecessary remakes

Fed-up filmgoers name the most unnecessary remakes

Superheroes may be the most dominant force in cinema as of late, but coming in at a respectably close second is nostalgia; between the plethora of live-action remakes coming out of Disney and the rebooting/continuation of such storied franchises as Halloween and Predator, you would think that time is beginning to collapse in on itself.

But for every Top Gun: Maverick, there’s another remake or nostalgia-fest that just drops our spirits to the ground before mercilessly stomping all over them with an electric gusto that was almost certainly absent from the studio’s endeavors. With a pack of r/movies regulars craving some originality, they’ve taken to naming the remakes that none of us asked for.

Timothée Chalamet shares poster for his new cannibal romance ‘Bones and All’

When you think about rom coms, what comes to mind? A couple strolling together on a beach? A man in Seattle that can’t sleep for some reason? How about cannibals? The latter, of course, is the subject of Timothée Chalamet‘s upcoming movie, and the actor recently shared a new poster for the film on his Instagram page.

Chalamet stars in the film, aptly titled Bones and All, which also stars Taylor Russell (Lost in Space). It’s based on a novel by the same name about two cannibalistic lovers as they head out on a road trip (eating trip?) through Ronald Reagan’s America in the 1980s.

A dark and dusty Tom Cruise reboot wraps up streaming success

Tom Cruise might have ruled this year’s box office following his triumphantly successful sequel Top Gun: Maverick, but a far more surprising twist of events has occurred concerning one of the star’s worst-reviewed efforts. International audiences are breathing new life into the desiccated cadaver of Universal’s The Mummy, the “first” movie in the aborted attempt to set up a shared universe of the studio’s Universal Monsters properties. The film is also, arguably, the least-liked theatrical effort of Cruise’s career.

The Mummy was supposed to set the stage for an entire shared “Dark Universe” that would feature updated reimaginings of the iconic Horror characters that made Universal the powerhouse genre leader in the mid-20th century. New versions of The Wolfman, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Bride of Frankenstein, and even Dracula were meant to hit screens. Unfortunately for the studios, the hugely underwhelming Mummy outing tanked at the box office, taking in roughly half as much as its budget in the domestic market, and even earning Cruise a Golden Raspberry for his acting efforts.

‘Hocus Pocus 2’ director explains why two iconic characters aren’t in the movie

No matter what summer diehards may have you believe, Spooky Season is right around the corner, and Millennials have even more reason to celebrate the annual return of jack o’lanterns, trick or treating, and things that go bump in the night. After a jaw-dropping absence of nearly thirty years, Winnie, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson are back for Hocus Pocus 2. But while the sequel will feature many a familiar face, two of the stars of the original will sadly not appear.

According to director Anne Fletcher, neither Omri Katz nor Vinessa Shaw — who played teens Max and Allison, the Sanderson sister’s objects of torment in the original 1993 film — will be returning to appear in the long-awaited sequel. Although attempts were made to introduce the characters into the new story, ultimately it was too difficult to make an appearance, even a cameo, feel natural. Fletcher told Entertainment Weekly,
