Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Delivers A “Brilliant End” To The Saga, According To Daisy Ridley

It’s taken eight live-action movies and upwards of 40 years, but this Christmas, Lucasfilm, and director J.J. Abrams will draw the curtain on the Skywalker Saga with the aptly-titled Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Abrams, having already directed The Force Awakens, enlisted the help of screenwriter Chris Terrio (Justice League) to craft The Rise of Skywalker, and with it, the ninth and final chapter in this most beloved saga. No pressure, then.

But if the cast and crew are feeling the pressure, they aren’t showing it; while appearing on GMA (h/t Twitter), Daisy Ridley touched base on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and hinted that Abrams and Terrio are about to serve up a grand finale that will ultimately satisfy the impassioned fanbase – primarily because it’ll harken back to the eight movies that preceded it. Yes, even Attack of the Clones

It’s a brilliant end to the story. JJ & Chris have done an incredible job of wrapping it up, because obviously there are so many references to the 9 films… I feel people are going to be satisfied.

The fact that The Rise of Skywalker‘s inaugural trailer already included the iconic cackle of Emperor Palpatine is a sure-fire sign that Abrams and his creative team are about to dabble with some good old-fashioned nostalgia. Whether they do so with the same level of panache and artistic skill as, say, Avengers: Endgame is another question entirely. But we can at least rest assured that Episode IX is inching ever closer to release.

December 20th is the date for your diaries, by which point we should have some vague understanding of Disney’s future plans for the Star Wars saga. Regardless of how things pan out, it seems Daisy Ridley won’t be involved, despite rumors to the contrary.
