MCU Fans Spot New Captain Marvel Power In Avengers: Endgame

MCU Fans Spot New Captain Marvel Power In Avengers: Endgame

Captain Marvel is, without a doubt, one of the more powerful Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Carol Danvers could possibly have a secret power that fans didn’t even know about – and it was right in front of our faces in Avengers: Endgame.

A user on Reddit pointed out in a video that Captain Marvel might just have the ability to absorb energy. The clip in question is from the final battle with Thanos, where Danvers seemed to absorb the Gauntlet’s energy while grabbing it and battling the Mad Titan, slightly overpowering him. Of course, all Thanos needed to do was knock the Power Stone out, take it in his opposite hand and smash Carol across the battlefield.

However, upon further inspection, it seems like Captain Marvel’s powers heightened when she grabbed the Gauntlet, which we know gives off a tremendous amount of energy once all the stones are in place. It’s certainly something for fans to debate over, but it’s a reasonable explanation as to why Captain Marvel was so effective against the Mad Titan. You can check out the video for yourself over on Reddit to see what we’re talking about.

If this does prove to be the case, it’ll add to what’s already been a frustrating ride for fans and the presentation of the heroine. Many have complained that the character is very much a Mary Sue given how overpowered she is. And if I’m being honest, it was a bit lame how easily she handled Thanos herself when the Avengers struggled so mightily with him in Infinity War. She was also very aware of how powerful she is, and often cocky at times.

Carol overpowered the big bad at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame before Thor decided to take his head off. And, of course, she absorbed that head-butt from Thanos in the final battle. However, perhaps that very well was due to a secret ability we all overlooked?

Disney Fans Demanding Danny DeVito Return As Phil In Hercules Remake

Disney Fans Demanding Danny DeVito Return As Phil In Hercules Remake

It’s official! After months and months of reports, it was announced today that Disney is moving forward with a Hercules remake – something WGTC first told you almost a year ago. The 1997 mythological animated movie is getting the live-action treatment, with Marvel supremos Joe and Anthony Russo on hand to produce. THR broke the story this evening, nothing that at this stage it’s hard to tell whether it will be a faithful reboot – like Beauty and the Beast – or if it’ll play fast and loose with the source material – like the upcoming Mulan.

If it’s the former, though, Disney fans have one major demand: Danny DeVito needs to be brought back as Phil. In the original film, the eponymous teen demigod is trained up as a hero by his cynical satyr coach Philoctetes, who’s brilliantly voiced by the Always Sunny star. James Earl Jones reprised his role as Mufasa in last year’s The Lion King, so why can’t DeVito do the same for the new Hercules?  Here are just a few of the countless folks desperate for this to happen…

Don’t panic, it’s a good trend!

It’s a deal-breaker, OK?

It’s literally all people care about.

Some people feel very strongly about it.

The Titans’ attack on Thebes will have nothing on the riots caused if DeVito doesn’t get his role back.

Well, you don’t have to put it like that but… yeah.

But, wait, hear him out…

Seriously, though, if DeVito isn’t in it, no one’s going to see it. It’ll be the first movie ever to earn $0 at the box office.

Hercules

As well as the Russos coming aboard, THR revealed that Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings writer Dave Callaham is penning the script. No casting announcements have been made yet, but various stars are reportedly circling the project. WGTC has heard that Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba are in the running for the villainous Hades, while Ariana Grande is also a prime contender for Herc’s love interest Megara.

Who plays the rest of the roles might be up for debate, but Disney fans have drawn a line in the sand and they definitely want Danny DeVito back in the new Hercules.

LeBron James Reveals Official Title And Logo For Space Jam 2

LeBron James Reveals Official Title And Logo For Space Jam 2

It’s one of the more surprising sequels to come around in recent years. Space Jam 2 has been in development for more than two decades, and after several false starts, it’s finally in production. High time it got an official title then, don’t you think? Well, you’d think right.

That was me subtlety leading into the story. Star of the new movie, LeBron James, announced the new title on his Instagram page today and it looks like the film will be called… drum roll… pause for suspense… dramatic misdirection… Space Jam: A New Legacy. Boom, big reveal. New title, new legacy. Hope it was worth the preamble.

2021. 🐰🥕 🎥 🍿👑

A post shared by LeBron James (@kingjames) on

The movie is currently scheduled to release on July 16th 2021, though with the disruption caused by the pandemic, that’s liable to change.

I have to confess, I know next to nothing about the original Space Jam, other than it starred basketball player Michael Jordan as a fictionalized version of himself, and was successful at the box office. I also have to confess that I know next to nothing about Space Jam: A New Legacy, other than it’ll star basketball player LeBron James as a fictionalized version of himself, and has every chance of being successful at the box office, too.

What are your thoughts on the new title, though? It’s nothing spectacular, but you might have deeply held, emotionally charged opinions of unforeseen importance that simply must be aired. Or, like me, you may merely be surprised that a sequel to Space Jam is even in production. Then you find yourself glancing over its Wikipedia article to find it has a slated budget of… no, that can’t be right. $161.9 million? Frankly, if Space Jam: A New Legacy doesn’t look like Blade Runner 2049, we all deserve a refund. As do the studio. 80% of that is probably LeBron’s fee.
