In a clear attempt to beat Avatar’s box office record, Avengers: Endgame is back in theaters (not that it ever left) with about six minutes of extra content. And if you’re still on the fence about whether or not the re-release is worth another trip to the cinema, then the following breakdown of all the fresh material might help you make up your mind.
First of all, the film now opens with an introduction from co-director Anthony Russo, who welcomes viewers and asks them to stick around past the credits. Three hours later, assuming you followed Russo’s advice, you’ll see a post-credits tribute to the late Stan Lee, featuring footage from old interviews.
After that comes a deleted Endgame scene, which was most likely meant as an introduction for Professor Hulk. The sequence shows Bruce Banner in his new form rescuing civilians from a burning building. The character is apparently seen as a celebrity of sorts, and visibly has a good relationship with the emergency services. The scene is clearly unfinished though, featuring incomplete CGI, and when Mark Ruffalo delivers his lines, Professor Hulk’s mouth doesn’t move. The fire chief, meanwhile, is played by Reginald VelJohnson of Die Hard fame, who quotes a line from the 1988 action film.
Lastly, we get another brief clip from the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. The scene shows Nick Fury and Maria Hill arriving in the Mexican town of Ixtenco, where Fury has heard reports of some sort of cyclone with a face that’s been causing trouble. Though Hill is initially skeptical about these claims, Mysterio soon confirms the rumors when he appears before the pair and warns them that they don’t want to be a part of this. After sensing movement behind them, Hill and Fury turn around to see the Earth Elemental.
So, that’s everything you can expect to witness in the Avengers: Endgame re-release, but if you’d rather move on to the next MCU installment, Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2nd.
