Sylvester Stallone Says Escape Plan 2’s The Worst Movie He’s Ever Been In

In a recent Instagram post, Sylvester Stallone has sensationally slammed last year’s Escape Plan 2: Hades as “truly the most horribly produced film I’ve ever had the misfortune of being in.” What makes this even more incredible is that Stallone used his bashing of the movie to promote the third installment of the franchise, which is set to be released on home video in a matter of days.

The first Escape Plan finally saw Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up on the big screen, and that novelty factor resulted in the pic earning almost $140 million at the box office. After Schwarzenegger declined to return for the sequel, the series went straight to home video with Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson the only other cast member to stick around.

Something must have gone seriously wrong during the production of Escape Plan 2 though for Stallone to slam the project so publicly as the worst of his career. The movie is irredeemably awful without a doubt, but remember, this is still the guy that made Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

The 72 year-old action icon may be a three-time Academy Award nominee, but he’s also an eleven-time Razzie winner (including Worst Actor of the Century) and has the likes of Judge Dredd, Oscar, Avenging Angelo, Driven and the Get Carter remake on his CV.

Unsurprisingly given the way Stallone has spoken about his experiences on the movie, Escape Plan 2 director Steven C. Miller wasn’t asked to return for the third installment, which sees Sly reuniting with John Herzfeld instead, who was behind the camera for the 1986 cult classic Cobra. Also starring Dave Bautista, Jaime King and Devon Sawa, Escape Plan: The Extractors hits home video on July 2nd.
