Courteney Cox Says She Can’t Wait To See Ghostface Again In Scream 5

Courteney Cox Says She Can’t Wait To See Ghostface Again In Scream 5

Today we got some big news that horror fans had been waiting on – Courteney Cox has officially signed up for Scream 5The Friends star has appeared in all four previous movies in the franchise as bitchy reporter Gale Weathers, so it wouldn’t have been a Scream film without her. And the actress can’t wait to get back to Woodsboro to face off against Ghostface – or whoever’s under the mask this time – once again.

So said Cox in her latest Instagram post. Following the announcement of her return, the star took to social media to share a video of Ghostface’s mask with the iconic Scream theme playing over the top. “I can’t wait to see this face again,” reads a blood-red caption after a few moments.

Cox is the second cast member to sign up to the new Scream flick, as produced Spyglass Entertainment and distributed by Paramount. Back in May, her ex-husband David Arquette joined the project to reprise his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley. Obviously, the one we’re all waiting on now is Neve Campbell. Campbell, Cox and Arquette have been with the saga since the beginning, with Campbell’s Sidney Prescott at the heart of it. So, it would be a blow if she didn’t come back this time.

Thankfully, we know that the actress is in talks and she had spoken about getting along with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are taking over the reins of the series from the late, great Wes Craven. As such, we’ve got our fingers crossed it all works out.

Scream 5 is intending to start shooting this fall in North Carolina, ahead of it hitting cinemas sometime in 2021. Although, given the current state of the world, that could easily change.

Alita: Battle Angel Star May Be Teasing A Sequel With New Post

Alita: Battle Angel Star May Be Teasing A Sequel With New Post

Actor Jai Courtney has got the Alita: Battle Angel fandom revved up after posting a photo on his Instagram page which seemingly indicates he’s working on a sequel to the 2019 science fiction blockbuster. Although the picture is a little vague, it appears to show Courtney engaged in some sort of rollerskating-based motion capture performance, which has led folks online to speculate could be part of a motorball scene.

Alita Battle Angel

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the source material, Alita tells the story of a doctor who reassembles a discarded cyborg he finds in a junkyard. When said cyborg discovers she used to be a powerful killing machine, she must come to terms with her violent programming and use it towards a new goal, this time one of her own choosing.

Although the film was developed by James Cameron and grossed a decent amount at the box office, it’s yet to receive a sequel. Possible reasons for studio Twentieth Fox postponing the project include Cameron’s lack of involvement, poor critical reception and not enough profit given the huge budget.

Still, slim chances for a follow-up have not stopped fans from demanding one. Over the past few months, tens of thousands of Twitter users have expressed their love for the film, begging Hollywood executives to give them another outing. But could Courtney’s Instagram post be proof that a sequel to Alita: Battle Angel is in the works? Maybe.

In the original film, the actor portrayed a champion of the fictional sport, which sees numerous cyborgs destroy each other in an ultra-violent ball game played on roller skates. And while the photo’s set-up is highly specific, let’s not forget he could be working on another project, too.

A Ton Of Great Movies Hit VOD And Streaming This Weekend

A Ton Of Great Movies Hit VOD And Streaming This Weekend

A little less than a decade ago, the streaming service industry was small and simple to navigate. Even though Netflix was still up and coming, the company remained both a novelty and an anomaly to the film studios and their theatrical distribution network. Fast forward to now, however, and the family of streamers includes Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max and a wealth of others.

With so many subscriptions available, content is being produced and distributed at faster rates and in higher quantities than ever before. Add to that a global pandemic which has forced the world to stay indoors and work from home, and the demand for entertainment has skyrocketed even higher. Luckily for society, there’s a bunch of new stuff being made available all the time and here’s a quick overview of some of the movies that are hitting VOD and the various streaming sites this weekend.

For starters, Jojo Rabbit is coming to HBO Max tomorrow. The film, directed by Thor: Ragnarok maestro Taika Waititi, is a coming-of-age comedy about an aspiring Nazi who must protect a Jewish girl in hiding from his own community and loved ones. Doesn’t sound funny? Think again, because Jojo is jam-packed with laughs whilst simultaneously respecting its grim subject matter.

Up next we got the Jurassic Park trilogy. One of the most culturally-relevant and best-selling media franchises of all time, this saga about one man’s dream to open a theme park where visitors can walk alongside actual, resurrected dinosaurs took the world by storm when it first released and has not let go since. And as of tomorrow, you’ll be able to find all three films on Netflix.

Meanwhile, other cool new arrivals this week include well-received movies Bull and The Flood, both of which are currently on Hulu, as well as Summerland. Available on Digital, this war drama sees “an Englishwoman (Gemma Arterton) opens her heart to an evacuee after initially resolving to be rid of him in this moving journey of womanhood, love and friendship.” If none of that scratches your itch for new content, though, then wait, because there’s more.

Horror junkies will no doubt be happy to hear Deep Blue Sea 3 is now available on Digital, while genre fans can get their fix of action with Legacy of Lies, starring Scott Adkins as “a former MI6 agent who teams up with a Ukrainian journalist to uncover the truth behind some shady Russian covert operations.” And then, of course, there’s Yes, God, Yes, starring Stranger Things‘ Natalia Dyer. It follows “a Catholic teenager in the early 00s who struggles to suppress her new urges in the face of eternal damnation.”

Suffice it to say, there’s lots to check out this weekend, and for even more recommendations, you can head over to MovieWeb via the link below.

Courteney Cox Officially Signs On For Scream 5

Courteney Cox Officially Signs On For Scream 5

Scream 5 has really begun to ramp up in recent months, with Spyglass Media Group putting things into motion by hiring Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to get behind the camera and take over from the late, great Wes Craven. Paramount Pictures has already picked up the movie as well and will release it sometime in 2021.

At first, it was a bit unclear whether this new Scream film was a reboot or a continuation, but it was confirmed to be the latter when David Arquette signed on to return as Woodsboro sheriff Dewey Riley. We know that Neve Campbell is in talks to come back as series protagonist Sidney Prescott as well, and while she hasn’t been locked in just yet, we can at least rest easy knowing that Courteney Cox will also be showing up as Gale Weathers.

The news comes from Deadline, who say that the actress has officially boarded the hugely anticipated sequel. Speaking to the outlet, here’s what the film’s directors had to say about the casting:

“We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!”

Unfortunately, no details on how Gale might factor into the plot were revealed and at the moment, we still know very little about what the movie will bring us in terms of story and connections to previous entries in the series. Clearly, though, there will be some strong ties as both Cox and Arquette are firmly on board.

Now, we’re just waiting for word on Campbell signing on, too. She’s widely expected to return, but as mentioned above, hasn’t made things official as of yet. However, her two co-stars joining is certainly a good sign and once we hear something more on the casting front for Scream 5, we’ll be sure to let you know.

In the meantime, tell us, what are you hoping to see in the next outing from this iconic horror franchise? Sound off down below and make yourself heard.

Thor: Love And Thunder Theory Explains How Mjolnir Could End Up With Jane Foster

Thor: Love And Thunder Theory Explains How Mjolnir Could End Up With Jane Foster

Thor has wielded quite a few hammers over the past few years. For most of the MCU’s history, he had his trusty companion Mjolnir, which ended up being destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. In order to cope with his loss, the God of Thunder then forged a new hammer, Stormbreaker, in Avengers: Infinity War, before snagging an alternate version of his original weapon in Avengers: Endgame.

The hammers, it should come as no surprise, are set to play an important role in the character’s fourth feature film, too, Thor: Love and ThunderAlthough little is yet known about the project, we do know that Jane Foster – Thor’s love interest from the MCU’s earlier Phases – will return to wield Mjolnir. Which version of the hammer she’ll be wielding, however, is up for debate. That being said, a new theory may shed a little light on things.

After the events of Endgame, Captain America volunteers to travel back in time to return the Infinity Stones to their proper timeline in order to prevent the space-time continuum from rupturing. And among the things that he takes with him is another artifact which the Avengers stole from its original timeline: Mjolnir.

Since we last saw Jane feature prominently in Thor: The Dark World, it’s not unthinkable that she’ll get her hands on her former lover’s weapon and proceed to rewrite the history of her own timeline. Sure, this may muddle the history of the MCU as we know it, but Marvel has already shown a willingness to return to and possible even dramatically alter their older films through the concept of the multiverse.

Here’s how the theory reads in full:

With Thor 4, Love and thunder well on its way,  We have a bit of a problem to address. If Natalie Portman is going to get the power of Thor as in the comics, then we need Thor’s mighty hammer, Mjolnir, back. As it stands, Cap returned Mjolnir to the original timeline, Hela shattered it again, leading to Thor getting Stormbreaker again. Everything is back to where it is supposed to be. The hammer has to follow the same path to keep the events leading to Ragnarok. Both cap and thor know that the hammer has to be returned or there is no stormbreaker, no wakanda rescue . The hammer must go back .

But then how can Jane Foster get her hands on that hammer? A hammer that is integral to the story moving forward if they use the cancer storyline from the comics. Well, I think the answer is simple.

Captain America switched the hammer out with a fake.

So for Jane foster to claim the hammer and get the power of Thor, I believe the hammer has to survive. But how?  So I think I have the answer. Cap goes back to the events of Thor: Ragnarok and making a  quick switch.  Perhaps at Dr. Strange’s mansion,  He secretly gives Thor the replica, and that’s the hammer Hela shatterers. In reality, though, Cap has kept the hammer for decades, until the events of Love and thunder. Cap preserves the timeline while still keeping the hammer. I believe this movie will start with old Cap giving the hammer to Thor or Jane foster. I imagine a scene with old Captain America saying,” I think this belongs to you “as he hands the real Mjolnir back.

There are inherently  going to be plot holes in this theory for sure. How come the hammer does not come to him when he calls? or how can Cap get his hand on a believable replica? But the fact remains that Jane Foster will need Mjolnir to start her transformation. i dont know if reforging Mjolnir will keep Odin’s blessing intact. Perhaps the hammer is reforged with Captain America going back to find the pieces. I like to think that Thor would want to find a way to save his most valuable possession. And perhaps with a little help from cap they can save it whether its from time travel or collecting the pieces.

I know this has a ton of holes but Jane does have to end up with the hammer at some point so let’s figure this out together.

Another theory which has been floating around the internet holds that Loki may have something to do with the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Sure, the Loki we know and love was killed by Thanos at the start of Infinity War, but when the Avengers revisited the ending of their original film in Endgame, another version of Loki escaped without ever getting his redeeming moment. As such, it’s not unthinkable that he could return in the upcoming sequel.

Black Widow Will Reportedly Feature 30 Minutes Of IMAX Footage

Black Widow Will Reportedly Feature 30 Minutes Of IMAX Footage

At least thirty minutes of the upcoming superhero movie Black Widow will be shot in IMAX. News comes from Trailer Track’s Anton Volkov, who discovered it while listening to one of IMAX’s earnings calls.

Neither Marvel nor Disney has officially announced it, but even so, this news doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. As we know, most MCU films shoot at least one major action sequence in IMAX while others, like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, were shot entirely in this most cinematic of aspect ratios.

Black Widow is currently slated for a November release, though with a second wave of coronavirus infections spreading across the United States, various governments and municipalities have ordered stay-at-home mandates whilst streamers flourish and cinemas languish. As such, it’s still entirely possible that the pic could be delayed once more, or perhaps even go to streaming.

Should Black Widow end up receiving a home release rather than a theatrical one, those 30 minutes of IMAX-shot footage will certainly go to waste. The different aspect ratio was, after all, designed with large theater screens in mind, and only on such screens can its effects be truly appreciated.

In any case, with the rise of streaming services, IMAX seems to have lost some of its prominence. While the new business model of entertainment has not stopped movies from including action-packed, city-shattering, highly-explosive set pieces, filmmakers have changed the way they do their job with the small screen in mind.

IMAX or no IMAX, though, tell us, are you excited to see Natasha Romanoff face off against Taskmaster in her first-ever standalone feature film? Let us know in the comments section down below!
