Deadpool Will Still Be Wild And Break The Fourth Wall In The MCU

As of the Disney/Fox buyout, Marvel Studios has the rights back to the X-Men franchise. Generally, fans are happy about the Marvel universe taking one major step forward to becoming whole on the big screen. However, there is a certain amount of worry that Disney won’t know how to handle Deadpool. Credit where credit’s due – Fox knew to go for broke with the character and not hamper his wild side. Will the Mouse House give DP the same freedom?

That remains to be seen, of course, but we’re hearing from our sources that they don’t have any intention of changing things up. We Got This Covered has learned that Marvel fully intends for Deadpool to be just as bold and wild a character in the MCU as he was in the Fox universe. And yes, this includes the fact that he’ll still break the fourth wall. So get ready for a lot of jokes at Disney’s expense, no doubt.

This fits with most of what we’ve been hearing about the studio’s plans for Deadpool, too. Kevin Feige has made clear that he doesn’t want to mess with the character at all, while Disney CEO Bob Iger has assured fans that DP’s R-rating isn’t under threat despite the Mouse House’s family-friendly reputation.

Likewise, Ryan Reynolds is fully expected to return in the MCU, even though the rest of the X-Men will be rebooted. Given how protective he’s been of Wade Wilson so far, you’d think he wouldn’t stand for the character being watered down, and it seems that won’t be the case.

In fact, from what we’re hearing, Marvel’s fully embracing the range of possibilities that the anti-hero brings to the table. WGTC has been told that Deadpool will play a huge role in the MCU going forward, with many a cameo or co-starring parts in various MCU movies. He’s also expected to team-up with the X-Men for the first time. In other words, get ready for a lot of the Regenerating Degenerate on our screens in the not-so-distant future.
