Deadpool 3 May Feature A Familiar Villain

We’re at that exciting point in the Disney/Fox merger aftermath where nobody exactly knows what’s going on with all of the major franchise characters Marvel Studios just received, but the possibilities still seem endless. While it may be a while before we see Magneto or the Human Torch pop up in the MCU, Disney has made it clear that some form of a Deadpool 3 is going to happen sooner rather than later, and now we’re slowly learning details about the Merc’s next adventure.

Sources close to We Got This Covered have shed some light on the Regenerating Degenerate’s first Disney movie, and it sounds like it’s going to be sick. That’s because Marvel is thinking about having Typhoid Mary be one of the film’s primary antagonists. Originally appearing in the comics as a Daredevil villain, the alter ego of Mary Walker is a skilled assassin suffering from assorted mental illnesses and split personalities. Sound like any Merc with a Mouth we know?

The character should also seem familiar because this will be the third time Typhoid Mary has been brought to life on the screen. She was originally portrayed by model Natassia Malthe in the 2005 film Elektra, where she was simply known as Typhoid (because comic book movies from the 2000s were serious). This version of the character could breathe poison, and is really just remembered for that one terribly awkward kissing scene with Jennifer Garner.

Just last year though, she appeared once more in season 2 of Iron Fist – which not too many people watched. Portrayed by Alice Eve, this first attempt at introducing the character into the MCU felt like a complete waste, lacking any of her trademark mutant abilities. While her arc was left open to return later on in the now-canceled series, it seems like Marvel is interested in completely revamping Typhoid Mary from scratch.

While the future of a Deadpool 3 is certain, it’s still up in the air how Disney will first introduce the character into the MCU, whether it’s via a third standalone movie, a Wolverine/Spider-Man team up flick, or a Disney Plus streaming show. Though Kevin Feige and co. are interested in putting their own fresh spin on the antihero, we know they won’t stray too far from the source since Ryan Reynolds is still involved. In any case, stay tuned to see exactly what Marvel has in store.
