First Halloween Kills Trailer Confirmed To Be On The Way

First Halloween Kills Trailer Confirmed To Be On The Way

Blumhouse has been hard at work on Halloween Kills, the second installment in their Laurie Strode/Michael Myers trilogy, and it looks like the studio’s just about ready to share the first look at our next Halloween trip to Haddonfield.

In response to a fan asking about a teaser trailer for the movie on Twitter, producer Jason Blum had some encouraging news, which you can see for yourself down below:

Unfortunately, Blum didn’t go so far as to give us a specific date to look forward to, but his update is an exciting one nonetheless.

2018’s Halloween had its first teaser in June that year, which is still a while away from now, if that’s when the Kills equivalent is going to drop. Blum’s comments seems to suggest this one’s going to land at least a month or so earlier, though. Maybe even as early as April, given his enthusiasm.

In any case, there’s definitely a lot riding on the sequel, with expectations sky high after the 2018 effort stripped away all the mythos that had built up around the franchise, only directly following on from the 1978 original. Kills will strengthen the ties with that first film by bringing back a bunch of characters who starred in it. Kyle Richards, Charles Cyphers and Nancy Stephens are among the Halloween veterans returning, reprising their roles as Lindsey Wallace, former Sheriff Brackett and Marion Chambers, respectively.

Meanwhile, there’s Anthony Michael Hall joining the saga as the latest iteration of Tommy Doyle, who was played by Paul Rudd in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and by Brian Andrews as a kid back in ‘78. Nick Castle is once again back as the Shape, too, sharing his role with James Jude Courtney.

Halloween Kills is due to slash into cinemas on October 16th, with Blumhouse serving up the trilogy’s conclusion, Halloween Ends, a year later, in October 2021.

First Venom 2 Trailer Could Be With Us This Week

First Venom 2 Trailer Could Be With Us This Week

Despite a whole slate of movies being delayed or taken off the release schedule altogether in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, one has escaped the cull and is still on track for its theatrical debut this October. According to CBM, Sony have retained a slot on October 2nd for the release of Venom 2, the Tom Hardy-fronted supervillain sequel, and better yet, the outlet states that the first trailer may be with us as soon as this week.

It remains to be seen if that’ll indeed be the case, but the film calendar for this spring has been totally wiped out now, with blockbusters like No Time to Die and Black Widow, the endlessly delayed superhero flick The New Mutants, and horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II all falling foul of the global lockdown. None except the Bond movie have been assigned new release dates, a move symptomatic of studio caution, with immense uncertainty lingering as to how long quarantine conditions will be maintained.

Whether the films still down for release this summer make it out on time is another matter. Tentpoles yet to be delayed beyond August include Wonder Woman 1984 (pushed back by 2 months), and the new Christopher Nolan epic Tenet, with Warner Bros. nervously awaiting the outcome of the pandemic before making more drastic decision.

Hopefully by June the global crisis will have sufficiently eased for cinemas to open their doors once more. Nothing’s guaranteed, but here’s to cautious optimism that we might have some new movies to watch sooner rather than later. In particular, I hope Tenet doesn’t get delayed. The others I can take or leave, but where Nolan is concerned, take is the only option. Coronavirus, could you back off for the summer? It’d be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As for Venom 2, it’s got much more leeway than anything coming out within the next 3 months, and with any luck, we’ll indeed get our first look at it this week.

Netflix Crowned Most Popular Streaming Service During Coronavirus

Netflix Crowned Most Popular Streaming Service During Coronavirus

The last few years have seen many pretenders to Netflix‘s position at the top of the streaming pile. Hulu, Amazon Prime, CBS All Access, HBO Now and YouTube TV have all taken a shot, but so far none have managed to take down the king.

Last year, it seemed like Disney+ would take a big bite of Netflix’s pie, as their service came out of the gate strong with The Mandalorian and an impressive selection from the Disney back catalogue. But, in a bit of a scheduling goof, they’ve failed to capitalize on the aforementioned show’s forward momentum with any new content to the same standard.

That’s why the results of a new survey by HighSpeedInternet.com doesn’t contain any surprises. They asked viewers about their streaming habits, which are especially pertinent given that many of us are stuck at home under lockdown due to Coronavirus. Specifically, the question was which streaming service they would subscribe to if they were only allowed one?

A whopping 47% of participants named Netflix as their choice. 14% plumped for Amazon Prime, 13.6% said Hulu, 13% sided with Disney+ and the rest were split among remaining services. The survey theorizes that if the three runner-ups really wanted to take down Netflix, they’d have to team up into a bundle of services with a single subscription for all three.

Participants were also asked what factored into their decision, with an overwhelming 75% saying that available content is most important. Less important factors were price and the user experience. When it comes to original programming, Netflix beats the others hands down, pumping a sizeable amount of their massive profits into hit shows like The Witcher. On top of that, they’ve demonstrated that they’re willing to take risks that other networks might not, even picking up shows like Lucifer that were cancelled on their original network.

But if I were Netflix, I wouldn’t get too over-confident. Pride comes before a fall and corporate history is littered with the skeletons of companies that assumed they were too big to fail.

Dwayne Johnson Says Black Adam Would Destroy The Justice League

Dwayne Johnson Says Black Adam Would Destroy The Justice League

Ever wondered what would happen if Black Adam fought the Justice League? I hadn’t, but the answer has been given to us anyway.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is currently preparing to play the character in an upcoming movie scheduled for release on December 21st, 2021. Whether he actually does fight the Justice League remains to be seen, but if it happens, Johnson is convinced that he would win comfortably.

In a new Instagram Live broadcast, the actor gave his opinion on how he thinks the battle would go down, saying the following:

“‘What chance does the Justice League have against an angry Black Adam?’ What’s that term, no chance in hell.” [Laughs]

What chance do the Justice League have? None, apparently. If this is the make of broadcasts to come in a quarantined world, I’m going to have a lot of pieces like this to write. For the people asking him these questions, can you think of something more interesting to say? I’m as excited to see Black Adam as the next man (if the next man wasn’t terribly excited), but let’s ask the hard-hitting questions that someone of his stature deserves. Like whether he’s going to come back for Jumanji 3. That’s the content the public needs to see.

Anyways, leave a comment down below with your own take on what would happen if Black Adam fought the Justice League. Perhaps you disagree with Johnson. Maybe Superman would kick his ass. Maybe. Or, you could leave a comment with your own Dwayne Johnson Q&A suggestions. That’s what I’m going to do.

For instance, what’s it like to have been directed by both Michael Bay and Brett Ratner? Hold on. Dwayne Johnson has been in a movie directed by Stephen Merchant as well? This day gets weirder and weirder. No way Black Adam is going to top that.

Johnny Depp’s Defamation Lawsuit Moves Forward As Amber Heard’s Dismissal Is Denied

Johnny Depp’s Defamation Lawsuit Moves Forward As Amber Heard’s Dismissal Is Denied

Ex-lovers Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have had a truly dramatic few years since the couple divorced in January of 2017. Following abuse allegations from Heard, Depp took the matter to the courts with a $50 million defamation lawsuit. Now, Heard’s attempted dismissal of the case has been denied by Fairfax, VA County Chief Judge Bruce White, marking a substantial win for Depp in the ongoing battle.

Judge White had this to say in response to Heard’s dismissal request:

Defendant’s Demurrer is sustained as to the fourth statement listed above, but it is overruled as to the other three statements. Further, Defendant’s Plea in Bar regarding the statute of limitations is denied. Counsel shall prepare an Order reflecting the Court’s ruling and forward that Order to the Court for entry.

The long and arduous legal battle is sure to bring plenty of chaos and negativity to the two actors, but as things stand, the evidence against Heard has been mounting rapidly and has consistently given Depp quite a lot of ammunition in court. Among the damning evidence is a collection of audio tapes that brought to light that Heard defecated on Depp’s bed and punched him in the face for being late to her birthday party.

Meanwhile, an account from Depp’s estate manager, Tara Roberts, states that Heard physically abused Depp at the couple’s home in the Bahamas while his children were there. Though Heard admitted to throwing a lacquer bottle at Depp’s face, she insists that the entire scenario was completely misrepresented.

A petition to remove Heard as the L’Oreal spokesperson has reached nearly 12,000 signatures, while another to replace her in Aquaman 2 sits on the cusp of 400,000. It’s rare that online petitions make much of a difference in situations like this, but it is nevertheless strange that none of the mounting allegations against the actress have swayed L’Oreal or Warner Bros.

In any case, it could be years before Johnny Depp and Amber Heard see the end of this fight, but stay tuned for more as the messy story unfurls.

Star Wars Finally Reveals The Knights Of Ren’s Full Origin

Star Wars Finally Reveals The Knights Of Ren’s Full Origin

The Knights of Ren have always been one of the bigger mysteries of Star Wars in Disney’s Sequel Trilogy, but thanks to the last installment in the Skywalker Saga and its companion books and comics, we now know their full story.

The group of legendary dark side warriors were first introduced in The Force Awakens, but Rian Johnson decided against using them in the sequel, which is why they were mysteriously absent from The Last Jedi. In The Rise of Skywalker, J.J. Abrams brought the Knights of Ren back and established them early on as absolute badasses. But here’s the catch; since Episode IX already didn’t have much time to spare explaining all the different aspects of the Sequel Trilogy and the world Disney created, the Knights had as little screentime as all the other disposable characters that filled the background of the last movie in the saga.

If you still find yourself asking what their deal is, though, the official novelization for the movie and The Rise of Kylo Ren comic series can provide you with all the answers. As we read in Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy, Palpatine’s plan involved Sith loyalists all around the galaxy establishing dark side cults to advance his plans, including the Acolytes of the Beyond and the Sith Eternal. The Knights of Ren appear to be one of these cults, created by a man called Ren.

In The Rise of Kylo Ren, this dark-side practitioner travels the galaxy looking for followers with weak links to the living Force. Ren taught his disciples to use the dark side, which he called “the Shadow,” and based his methods on Sith philosophy. Ben Solo ultimately kills Ren and takes command of the Knights. However, in Rae Carson’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker novel, we learn that they have always been loyal to Palpatine and knew of his whereabouts on Exegol even before Kylo. In fact, the redeemed Ben Solo was surprised to see them in the Unknown Regions when he arrived to help Rey in the movie’s third act.

Of course, the resurrected Emperor’s plans were foiled when Rey and Ben came together and defeated him and his cultists on Exegol, marking an end to both the story of Star Wars and Disney’s Sequel Trilogy, at least for the time being.

Tell us, though, are you satisfied with this resolution? Or did you expect more from the Knights of Ren? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
