Those who hated having the song “Let It Go” stuck in their head for months on end back in 2013 are in for a rough winter. According to Josh Gad, Frozen 2 is going to be stacked with even catchier songs than the original. The actor recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss about a number of his upcoming projects and revealed that the soundtrack for the highly-anticipated sequel is going to blow audiences away:
“Can I just say something outrageous? I’m not even sure if I’m allowed to say this, but can I just say I think the songs are even better in this movie. Now I’ve set the bar so high, but they are so good. Bobby Lopez and Kristin Lopez, who wrote the original, they came back and did songs that are just [phenomenal]. That’s the big concern. How do you top those [Frozen] songs. They’re even catchier, I’m sorry to say.”
The same Academy Award-winning songwriters are returning for the second installment so it does stand to reason that the tracks will be just as good if not better this time around. The initial trailers and plot details have been purposely vague thus far. Fans aren’t sure what to expect from the lovable cast this time around, other than the introduction of several new characters as well as an adventure that leads them beyond their kingdom of Arendelle to try to discover the secret behind Elsa’s icy powers.
Fans are hoping that Disney hears their pleas and makes Elsa the first gay princess in the studio’s history. Many viewed her powerful anthem “Let It Go” as a song with strong homosexual undertones. Maybe this time around, she’ll be allowed to sing openly about her preferences.
Either way, Gad’s comments should have everyone who loved the first movie even more excited for the second one. Parents who are sick and tired of hearing Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel’s voices, on the other hand, should consider investing in some ear plugs this Christmas to prepare for the inevitability of the film’s soundtrack being played on repeat all throughout their house.
Frozen 2 will open in theaters on November 22nd, 2019.
