First Look At Shaggy In Sooby-Doo Reboot Scoob! Revealed

Scooby-Dooby-Doo is returning to cinemas in 2020 for the first time in what’ll be 16 years. Warner Bros.’ Scooby-Doo reboot, titled Scoob!, will be CG-animated unlike the two live-action efforts from the early 00s and as such, it’ll hue much closer to the classic depiction of the cartoon canine and his Mystery Inc. pals. We’ve already had Scooby’s traditional look revealed and now, we have a glimpse at how his best friend Shaggy “Norville” Rogers will be portrayed.

As captured at a licensing expo, this image shows Shaggy paired, as ever, with his faithful dog. The Scoob! filmmakers have gone with a very typical design for the cowardly hippie, too, with his usual green shirt and brown pants in check. The white undershirt wasn’t part of his original outfit, but is a common addition to modern iterations of the character.

Shaggy will be played in Scoob! by Will Forte, replacing Matthew Lillard, who’s voiced the character for years now after portraying him in the live-action movies. The CG film will see the rest of the Scooby gang brought to new life by numerous big names as well, with Zac Efron as Fred Jones, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake and Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley. Only veteran voice actor Frank Welker is returning from the TV series.

What sets Scoob! apart from other versions of the franchise is that it’ll drop Mystery Inc. into a kind of Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe. Other classic characters like Captain Caveman (Tracy Morgan), Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg) and Dynomutt (Ken Jeong) will all appear and the heroes will have to team up to stop the evil Dick Dastardly (Jason Isaacs). It’s due out in theaters on April 11th.

Before then, though, fans might want to check out Scooby-Doo! Return to Zombie Islanda belated sequel to 1998’s beloved Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island animated movie. That hits Blu-Ray in just a few days, on September 3rd.
