Assassin’s Creed Odyssey breathed new life into the often creaky historical murder simulator franchise. Working on the solid foundation of semi-reboot Assassin’s Creed Origins, the game takes place in a beautiful ancient Greek setting and has a mindbogglingly enormous and detailed map. It received a rare five-star review from WGTC as well, as we described it as “stunning in almost every way.”
This is a game you can pour hundreds of hours into, but if you’re interested in making it even longer, then developer Ubisoft has a gift for you, as the first episode of its highly regarded DLC add-on The Fate of Atlantis is completely free on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC until the 1st of September.
It’s entitled “Fields of Elysium” and takes players to the Greek afterlife. This is the first chapter in a three-part story, with the second episode, “Torment of Hades” showing the darker side of the afterlife, while the final episode, “The Judgement of Atlantis” takes players to the legendary lost underwater kingdom.
Despite a couple of controversial wobbles (those playing Cassandra as gay were dismayed to find her settling down and having a kid), the game’s DLC has been very well received. Also, if this first episode strikes your fancy, then the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass is also 50% off right now.
That includes the full Legacy of the Blade and Fate of Atlantis DLC packs and Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered (though why anyone would want to go back to the worst in the series after playing Odyssey beats me). In addition, the base game is also 50% off. Both of these offers run until September 2nd, so snap them up if you have a lot of free time and a burning desire to kick Greek guys off cliffs.
