Following the highly-anticipated release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Keri Russell might find herself starring in another blockbuster movie. According to our sources, the actress is currently being eyed by Warner Bros. for a role in The Batman. It’s unknown which part she’s being considered for, and she’s only on an internal studio wishlist at the moment, but fans should be excited that this highly talented performer might be about to land a role in the upcoming flick regardless.
The 43-year-old rose to prominence in 1998 by anchoring the titular part in the WB drama Felicity, for which she won a Golden Globe. Though this probably won’t factor into the final decision at all, it’s interesting to note that her tenure on the show means she has at least a bit of a relationship with Warner Bros.
Russell’s career revitalization came in 2013 though with her portrayal as KGB agent Elizabeth Jennings on the FX spy thriller The Americans. Her performance earned her widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. In 2017, she even received a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Given her evident talent, it makes sense for the studio to want her to be attached to their film and though nothing’s been confirmed, it’s interesting to speculate on which role she’s being eyed for. She might be a little too old to play the love interest of 33-year-old Batman actor Robert Pattinson, which means she could be destined to take on the part of Martha Wayne in flashbacks. Hopefully this isn’t the case though, because it feels like viewers have been forced to watch Bruce’s parents die onscreen even more than they’ve had to watch Uncle Ben’s murder.
Regardless, Russell would be a fantastic addition to the developing cast of The Batman no matter what role she’s being considered for and as soon as we hear anything further on her involvement, we’ll be sure to let you know.
