Odd as it may seem, a certain Amazon Warrior hasn’t actually headlined an animated film of her own since 2009’s Wonder Woman. She’s played a huge part in numerous direct-to-video Justice League flicks in the time since, sure, but it’s probably safe to say her fanbase has been waiting with bated breath for some sort of followup.
Thankfully, the hiatus will end later this year once Wonder Woman: Bloodlines arrives on home video. According to a first look featurette included on the Batman: Hush Blu-ray (stay tuned to We Got This Covered for our full review pertaining to that one), this tale will indeed fall in line with the New 52-inspired continuity started with Justice League: War – but it’ll take place earlier in Diana’s superhero career.
But if you’d like a little more info to chew on, you can check out the official synopsis and artwork below:
When Amazon princess Diana of Themyscira chooses to save fighter pilot Steve Trevor, it’s a choice that will change her world and ours. Fulfilling the role of both ambassador as well as protector, Diana earns the name Wonder Woman from the gracious people of Earth. But her heart is as strong as her will as she is determined to help a troubled and embittered young girl whom has fallen in with a deadly organization known only as Villainy, Inc! Get ready for an exciting adventure packed with brutal battles, myth and wonder!
In case you were wondering, Rosario Dawson will once again be lending her pipes to Wonder Woman herself. Joining her as Steve Trevor will be none other than Jeffrey Donovan, which comes as thrilling news to this Burn Notice fan.
Rounding out the rest of the voice cast will be Marie Avgeropoulos (Silver Swan), Kimberly Brooks (Cheetah/Giganta), Michael Dorn (Ferdinand), Ray Chase (Lead Bandit), Mozhan Marno (Dr. Cyber), Adrienne Moore (Etta Candy), Cree Summer (Hippolyta), Courtenay Taylor (Dr. Poison), Nia Vardalos (Julia Kapatelis) and Constance Zimmer (Veronica Cale). As you no doubt noticed, there are a heck of a lot of villains showing up.
Right now, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines lacks a concrete release date, but smart money says it’ll arrive on Blu-ray in either October or November.
