Marvel Studios has officially gone three for three with superhero tentpoles in 2019.
Not only were Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home fantastic movies in their own right, but they all blew past the $1 billion milestone at the global box office. So if the Marvel Cinematic Universe is experiencing any symptoms of franchise fatigue, it doesn’t show.
Speaking of which, now that Spider-Man: Far From Home is out in the open, the Powers That Be have outlined exactly where things are headed in Phase 4, though you’ll notice that the third (and presumably final) chapter in Tom Holland’s solo trilogy was absent from SDCC. That largely comes down to the fact that Sony Pictures is in charge of marketing for all Spider-Man movies, as per the studio’s licensing agreement with Marvel Studios.
Besides, Far From Home is still playing in theaters, so it would be foolish to undercut last month’s Spidey sequel while it’s still raking in the big bucks. But at least according to ComicBook.com, it won’t be long before the Web-Head comes home.
If an Amazon pre-order listing is to be believed, Spider-Man: Far From Home may be available from October 1st – two months from today. That’s a Tuesday, for the record, which is a common release day for new Blu-rays (and video games, too). Nevertheless, as CB points out, this is based on the fact that Amazon’s pre-order promo expires on October 1st, and is in no way a foolproof guarantee that Far From Home‘s Blu-ray will indeed be available on that date. If anything though, it certainly narrows the launch window.
Whatever the case, we’ll keep you posted as Spider-Man: Far From Home inches ever closer to Blu-ray and DVD.
