Part Of The MCU’s Phase 5 Has Reportedly Been Revealed

Marvel finally unveiled their full slate of Phase 4 properties at Comic-Con last month, but rumors abound that the studio isn’t done revealing what’s coming up in the MCU over the next few years. It’s thought that the shape of Phase 5 will be announced at D23 later in August. If that is the case, then a couple of their planned release dates may have been leaked a little early.

Insider Charles Murphy, who’s produced some accurate scoops in the past, shared on Twitter two upcoming movies and the dates that they’ll drop. According to him, Black Panther 2 will land on February 18th, 2022 with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 following on May 6th, 2022. The movie for July 29th of that year, meanwhile, remains unknown right now.

What’s even more interesting, though, is that it seems Murphy has got wind of a project coming a couple of years later which he’s really excited about. He writes that arriving on either May 3rd or 10th of 2024 is something worthy of a “shocked face” emoji.

So, let’s look at what we have here. For one, those dates for BP2 and GotG3 make a lot of sense. Both previous movies in these respective franchises released in those months and ruled the box office. So, it’s only smart for Marvel to keep them where they found success last time. Thor: Love and Thunder also follows this pattern, with the Phase 4 film coming in November 2021, just like Thor: Ragnarok broke records in November 2017.

As for the other two mystery movies, Spider-Man 3 landing in that July spot would be a good bet. Marvel’s been supplying us with a Spidey solo pic every two years so far, so making us wait no more than three years for the next one seems logical. The 2024 project could be several different things, though.

Is it the X-Men or Fantastic Four rebootAvengers 5? That Secret Wars movie the Russos really want to make? Your guess is as good as mine, but fingers crossed that we’ll find out some official info on what’s coming in the MCU‘s Phase 5 in the not-so-distant future.
