New Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! And Let’s Go, Eevee! Event Awards A Free Mewtwo

A new limited-time event for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! has recently commenced and the rewards this time around include a certain mythical Pokémon.

The genetically engineered and extremely powerful Mewtwo is being handed out at various retailers around the globe in order to promote the launch of the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s latest set expansion, Unified Minds. As of writing, the giveaway seems to only be available to residents in Europe and there’s been no word yet, as to whether The Pokémon Company intends to expand its reach to North America and beyond. We’ll keep you updated on that front but for now, see below for all participating stores.

  • United Kingdom – Smyths Toy Stores
  • France – PicWicToys
  • Germany – Smyths Toy Stores

In order to secure this special Mewtwo and add it to your collection, head in-store to any of the above locations and request a serial code. You won’t be required to make any purchase in order to secure a download code but do note that each is a one-time use, so if you own both versions of Let’s Go, be sure to have the right one slotted into your Switch before entering the details printed on your receipt.

In regards to what makes this iteration of the failed experiment any different to others you might already own, it comes at level 70 and boasts maxed out Awakening Values. Furthermore, the moves Amnesia, Psychic, Teleport and Recover will be available from the get-go. If you’re looking for a new Psychic-type squad addition to help take down the Elite Four, look no further than this powerhouse of a Pokémon.

If you’ve already seen and done everything there is to do in Let’s Go, however, making the trip to your nearest retailer is still worth the effort. Like the rest of his kin, Mewtwo can be transferred to the Pokémon Bank (soon to be Pokémon Home) storage app and then redirected to any other game in the series you might own. Does that include the upcoming Sword and Shield? Probably, but not all 800+ critters will be so lucky, this time around. See here for all the details on that front.
