Up until recently, we really didn’t have a good idea of what form and shape the MCU was going to take moving forward. That all changed a week or so ago though when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and a handful of actors took to Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to finally reveal what was in store for fans as we move into Phase 4 of the franchise.
It looks like there’s plenty to look forward to over the next few years, but those who were hoping to hear some news regarding the X-Men might be a little disappointed. Marvel Studios has confirmed they are planning to release films focusing on Earth’s mutants at some point, but it’s not entirely clear when that’ll happen. We’ve previously reported these movies might not be due out until Phase 5, but one outlet suggests that we’ll have to wait even longer.
As ScreenRant notes, there’s a good chance the X-Men won’t make their MCU debut until Phase 6. So far, we already know every film and TV show that will release over the next two years, and we’ve even caught wind of some of the movies Marvel has begun to plan, such as the Blade reboot.
There’s also the possibility Disney will want to give some time for the X-Men franchise to rest a little bit before they reboot it for the MCU. After all, the last few flicks have not done so well, and the House of Mouse might want to wait a bit to let the sour taste in our mouths fade. Personally, we’re excited to see how Marvel will tackle the X-Men, but we don’t mind waiting a few years to see it done right.
