Following a spate of teasers, Epic Games finally unleashed Fortnite‘s latest season last week. As the name would suggest, Season X: Out of Time introduces an overarching time-bending theme to the battle royale, with twists and turns around every corner. One of the many surprises awaiting players’ first tentative steps onto a renewed game map was the return of a fan favourite location from years past – Dusty Divot.
Many moments of nostalgia are promised to make themselves known over the course of Season X – likely via the mysterious appearance of so-called Rift Zones – but not everything introduced in Season 9’s successor represents a trip down memory lane. One particular new inclusion, the aptly-named B.R.U.T.E. mech, is the latest vehicle to enter the sandbox and, as is tradition, it’s not exactly performing as intended.
In fact, an exploit involving the two-legged weapon of mass destruction could well represent the most game-breaking exploit to ever hit the shores of Battle Island. While not the first to discover this rather egregious bug, Fortnite streamer TheFortScientist has uncovered a different means with which to trigger it.
Check out the clip in question below.
Easy super speed method with the Mech. Different method than Tom/Myth from FortniteCompetitive
In regards to how to go about mimicking the above, one need only repeatedly smash the button normally used to change seats in the mech while jumping at the same time. We’d go into further detail as to how you’ll know when the attempt is successful but I imagine it’ll be quite obvious. Often times, it can be difficult to discern whether a bug is an intended feature or not but this time? It’s crystal clear that Epic never intended for B.R.U.T.E. pilots to circle the entire map several times in the blink of an eye.
Given its nature, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fortnite‘s weekly patch completely disable Season X’s mechanical menace until a fix is implemented. Stay tuned for further developments.
