Child’s Play Is Heading Home Next Month On Blu-Ray And Digital

While horror movies are typically associated with October and Halloween, 2019 is looking to buck that trend entirely. So far this year, we’ve been treated to Jordan Peele’s sophomoric effort, another adaptation of a Stephen King novel, and a slasher flick that isn’t afraid to poke fun at genre conventions.

And of course, who could forget Child’s Play, the remake/reboot of the long-running series that originally kicked off all the way back in 1988. 30 years after its debut, it seems the idea of killer dolls can resonate with audiences, even if the new incarnation of Chucky is decidedly more high-tech. The latest from director Lars Klevberg did fairly well at the box office (raking in over $40 million globally), and he’s already teased a few ideas for a potential sequel.

If you didn’t get the chance to check out Child’s Play when it was in theaters, you’ll be glad to hear that it’s heading home soon. As Bloody Disgusting reports, the film will be made available on digital storefronts on September 10th, with a physical release on DVD and Blu-Ray coming on September 24th. At this time, it’s not quite clear if a 4K version is on the docket.

There are also a handful of bonus features packed-in, including a making-of, a featurette titled “Bringing Child’s Play’s Chucky to Life,” soundtrack and theatrical trailers, a gallery, and two claymation clips from Lee Hardcastle, who has previously done stop-motion videos based on The Belko Experiment, Rick and Morty, and a handful of horror films, including The Thing and Evil Dead 2.

It’s not entirely clear if Child’s Play will get a sequel in the near future, but for now, it looks like we’ll have to settle for rewatching it at home.
