Marvel Fans Are Hoping Valkyrie Finds Her Queen In Captain Marvel

You’ve really got to hand it to Marvel for going all-in on their Hall H SDCC 2019 panel this year. You know you’ve done your film announcements right when the confirmation that Valkyrie will be the MCU’s first LGBTQ hero is only the tenth biggest story of the weekend. Yet, alongside the reveal of Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings shocking villain and the Doctor Strange sequel’s phenomenal title, Tessa Thompson confirmed that her newly appointed King of Asgard will dedicate time in Thor: Love and Thunder to finding a queen.

“There’s nothing more powerful in the world than love,” so said director Taika Waititi as he announced the upcoming fourth Thor film, and it seems like the concept of love will play a massive role in every one of the character’s story arcs. I mean, the word’s even in the title.

Now, it seems that a vocal group of Marvel fans have already picked the perfect match for Valkyrie, taking to the Internet in support of a romance with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel:

Larson has previously teased that Captain Marvel, who was also known as Carol Danvers, may have had a relationship with her ally Maria Rambeau prior to her super-powered origin. In the past, both Thompson and Larson have expressed their desire to see more LGBTQ representation in the MCU, which the studio has been slowly dragging its feet to meet. The duo have even suggested matching up the pair of characters on their own social media feeds, so it’s clear they wouldn’t be opposed if fans got their way.

Considering the next Thor movie will likely close out Phase 4 of the MCU, an appearance by Carol Danvers would certainly pique the interest of those eagerly awaiting Phase 5. Kevin Feige has teased a Captain Marvel 2 is coming, and connecting the character with Valkyrie would serve as a neat little baton pass within the larger cinematic universe.

Valkyrie’s quest for companionship will be just one of the many facets to Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor. Taika Waititi clearly has a lot on his plate, but if the fresh breath of air that was Thor: Ragnarok had anything to prove, it’s that the director can handle it.
