First Jumanji 3 Trailer Takes The Game To The Next Level

2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle surprised us all. Not just by making nearly $1 billion at the box office, but by being a genuinely entertaining movie that updated the original 1996 film in some smart ways. It’s no surprise that Sony fast-tracked a sequel, then, and the trailer for Jumanji 3 has finally landed online today, teasing that the dangerous game will be taken to the next level.

As you can see, Jumanji: The Next Level reunites the dream team from the last movie for new adventures in the jungle. Dwayne Johnson returns as video game avatar Dr. Smoulder Bravestone, as does Karen Gillan (Ruby Roundhouse), Kevin Hart (Mouse Finbar) and Jack Black (Sheldon Oberon). Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain and Morgan Turner also reprise their roles as the kids who get lost in Jumanji. And don’t forget that Nick Jonas and Colin Hanks are back, too.

The movie isn’t just coasting by with its old cast, however, but will also introduce a host of new names into the franchise as Danny Glover, Awkwafina and Danny DeVito likewise star. As for plot details, we do get a few teases of the story in the footage above and the stars’ recent posts on social media have also revealed some new costumes for the characters, suggesting that colder environments will be visited – which we see a few glimpses of here.

Of course, Sony will be keeping their fingers crossed that Jumanji: The Next Level will be just as much of a smash as Welcome to the Jungle. The odds are against it, though, as it comes out just a week before Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerIt could still have a fantastic opening, but much of its business will likely be hoovered up by the much-anticipated Disney event movie. That being said, there’s no reason why Jumanji: The Next Level shouldn’t prove to be another awesome installment in the franchise when it roars into theaters on December 13th.
