These Are The Fox Films That Disney Has Scheduled For 2020 Onwards

Though Disney’s recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox has seemingly led to the axing of quite a few projects, there are still plenty of upcoming films that look to have survived the transition, many of which are scheduled to hit theaters in the next couple of years.

For one thing, you have Underwater, the story of a crew of underwater researchers who must fight for their lives after an earthquake devastates their subterranean lab. With a cast that includes Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick and Vincent Cassel, the film is slated to come out on January 10th, 2020.

After that, Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn returns to the helm for The King’s Man, the confusingly titled prequel to the popular spy series. Set for release on February 14th, 2020, the film boasts a star-studded line-up, including Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Daniel Bruhl, Matthew Goode, Stanley Tucci, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance.

One week later, on February 21st, 2020, we see the release of Call of the Wild, an adaptation of Jack London’s classic novel, starring Harrison Ford, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, Dan Stevens and Omar Sy. And speaking of adaptations, Fox’s final Marvel movie, The New Mutants, should finally be hitting theaters on April 3rd, assuming the project isn’t hit with yet another delay.

Another film that Disney is hoping will make a splash next summer is Free Guy, an action comedy from Stranger Things director Shawn Levy about a bank teller who discovers that he’s a minor character in an open world video game. The flick is set for release on July 3rd, 2020, and stars Ryan Reynolds opposite the likes of Joe Keery, Taika Waititi and Channing Tatum.

On July 17th of next year, Bob’s Burgers makes the jump to theaters with a feature-length film. Then, on October 9th, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright and Annette Bening join Kenneth Branagh for Death on the Nile, the follow-up to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.

One upcoming project that may not be on your radar yet is Ron’s Gone Wrong, an animated comedy set in a world where robots and children are best friends. The movie is scheduled for release on November 6th, 2020, followed by Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake on December 18th.

Moving into 2021, we have Nimona, an animated fantasy film that’s expected to come out on March 5th. And lastly, on December 17th of the same year, Disney is finally releasing the long-awaited Avatar 2.

Of course, as anyone who’s been keeping track of James Cameron’s heavily delayed sci-fi sequel can tell you, plans are subject to change. Nonetheless, this is the official schedule for the time being, and we’ll be sure to let you know if we hear anything different.
