Late last month, Avengers: Endgame had its highly anticipated Digital release, giving MCU fans the opportunity to revisit the all-time biggest blockbuster on Amazon, Fandango Now and various other platforms. But for those of you still waiting for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel to show up on Netflix, you may want to ready yourselves for some unfortunate news.
Not only will Endgame never be added to Netflix, but due to the fractured deal between Disney and the streaming service, no future Marvel Studios films will be added to the site either. Of course, while some of you will no doubt be disappointed to find this out, many fans will regard everything we’ve said here as old news. After all, we already saw Captain Marvel give Netflix a miss before it heads to Disney Plus later this year, and we can expect a similar pattern for all new MCU movies from now on.
In fact, after the removal of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earlier this year, Netflix has just three Marvel Studios films left: Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Needless to say, it’s only a question of when, rather than if, those three titles are leaving the service.
Incidentally, Disney announced plans just a few days ago for a combined Hulu, ESPN Plus and Disney Plus bundle. The fact that the bundle is selling for $12.99 – the same price as Netflix’s most popular package – has fueled speculation that the Mouse House is in direct competition with the streaming giant. Naturally, Disney CEO Bob Iger is denying the claim, telling CNBC recently that there’s plenty of room for both services to thrive in the marketplace, but feel free to draw your own conclusions.
In any case, you can still catch Avengers: Endgame on Digital, before the film comes to Blu-ray and DVD on August 13th.
