Latest Disney News: Deadpool 3 star opens up about the effect of Disneys influence as Strange World kicks up yet another online debate

When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019 the fate of Deadpool 3 was left uncertain. Here you have a franchise that uses cuss words and dirty jokes more than Micky Mouse says “A-ha!” How on earth was it going to make that fly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Now that we’re less than a year away from its theatrical debut (finally!) one of the stars of the film has given us a pretty succinct answer as to what we can expect.

Outside of the MCU, Disney is battling more drama on the Strange World front after the controversial teacher from Florida, who was ridiculed by conservatives in Ron DeSantis’ Florida for showing the movie to her sixth-grade students, has once again ignited the conversation with her latest TikTok post.

And speaking of controversial Disney movies — have you noticed anything different about the animated Aladdin movie on Disney Plus? Well, some people have and they are thoroughly confused. Just like Disney must’ve been when it saw the opening weekend projects for its latest reboot, Haunted Mansion.

Disney loves a good reboot, as we’re sure you know by now, but whether the remake of Haunted Mansion proves to be worthwhile is as foggy as a clogged crystal ball. At present, the film is estimated to rake close to the same amount as its 2003 predecessor. When you account for inflation, that’s an uninspiring figure, and downright frightening considering it cost around $157 million to make. There’s a reason studios pack a film with as many stars as the Hollywood Walk of Fame; their fandoms are a built-in audience ready to fork over cash to see their favs in action. Unless you’re Jared Leto, of course. Poor guy.

Aladdin now displays a content warning before the film, but not everyone understands why

If you’ve watched Aladdin (no, not the live-action version) at all recently on Disney Plus, then you’ll have noticed the streamer now advertises a 10-second content warning before the movie. The warning, which you can read above, is Disney’s way of acknowledging its mistake without removing the film from its library. Long before Disney (or Hollywood) paid attention to the harmful effects of cultural appropriation or perpetuating stereotypes, Aladdin was released into the world without a care in the world. Some viewers were understandably flummoxed by this new development, but when you take a moment to consider the reasons behind Disney’s decision, it’s actually pretty admirable.

Florida’s most controversial teacher ignites the Strange World debate all over again with latest TikTok post

Remember in May when Florida’s Department of Education investigated that teacher for showing her students the Disney movie Strange World? One would think (or better yet, hope) that the ridiculousness of the whole ordeal would come into focus with the aid of hindsight, but the internet is here to prove us wrong. After that same teacher posted another video to TikTok, internet trolls used that as ammunition to kick up the debate all over again in the comments section. Thankfully, those few whose heads are screwed on straight were able to help her drown out the noise with positive affirmations.

Deadpool 3 is ready to take the cake as the most foul-mouthed Disney movie of all time

Now that set photos for Deadpool 3 have finally given us our first look at Ryan Reynolds’ Merc in full costume, the threequel’s arrival feels more real than ever. As the first of the Deadpool films to exist within the purview of Walt Disney Studios (the first two were under the jurisdiction of 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the company in 2019), the gritty, grungy, and downright gruesome aspects of the previous installments have weighed heavily on the minds of Disney-weary fans. Will Disney’s family-friendly persona water down the tone? Will Deadpool be able to cuss? Will there be blood? We have so many questions.

Thankfully, Deadpool 3 will indeed be rated R — a first for the MCU — and according to the actor who played Dopinder in the first two movies, Karan Soni, the threequel “does not feel different.” In fact, he called it a “hard R,” even if that might not have been the wisest of word choices.
