Warner Bros. might be trying to bury it, but the ‘Blue Beetle’ trailer is still amassing a DC army

Warner Bros., the behemoth mega entertainment company that can’t seem to get out of its own way, released a really good trailer for a really good-looking movie today. It’s called Blue Beetle, but unfortunately WB also decided to release the trailer for Wonka, featuring golden boy Timothée Chalamet, thus stealing BB’s thunder somewhat. Despite this, the Blue Beetle army is ready to go.

While this trailer twofer seems like it might dilute both movies’ buzz, it’s pretty clear where the company’s allegiance lies; Wonka seems to be the priority here, which doesn’t really make sense considering Blue Beetle is the first major character in studio head James Gunn’s new DC order.

It’s either stupidity or intentional sabotage, but releasing both trailers on the same day is a dumb idea, no matter how you look at it.

Regardless, Blue Beetle looks really good! Meanwhile Wonka is an origin story, so you don’t even get the fun chocolate factory stuff. It looks not as good. If I was a kid, a demographic it seems like both of these movies are somewhat marketed to, I would much rather see a bunch of superheroes and explosions than some smarmy pop culture phenom phoning it in so he can remodel his kitchen.

This brings us to the glorious #BlueBeetleBattalion, which was trending on the failing site Twitter on Tuesday. WB is betting on the wrong horse here. Anyway, let’s go through some Blue Beetle love.

For her!

Agreed.

Planet Beetle!

Even Robot Joe can’t contain his excitement.

“We created this.”

A blue whopper? LFG!

Although be careful, it could have some dire consequences.

This is the kind of fan interaction and buzz that people dream about! But WB is more interested in a snoozefest chocolate-making movie? Make it make sense.

Is there a #WonkaBattalion? No sir. There are a few good posts, but they’re mostly making fun of the movie or the fact that Chalamet’s Wonka is a peace loving hippie, whereas the original Wonka (Gene Wilder) had way more edge.

Intense:

This has been making a lot of appearances as well.

And a reminder of the last time they tried to reboot the story with Johnny Depp.

It’s pretty easy to see how this thing is leaning. Wonka comes out on December 15, and Blue Beetle will premiere on August 18. We’ll keep you posted.
