‘The Flash’ director addresses the elephant in the room by discussing Ezra Miller’s DCU future

Despite all the controversies surrounding their personal life, Ezra Miller is returning to the DCU world with what could arguably be the biggest superhero movie of the year. The Flash is soon making its global premiere, so director Andrés Muschietti thought this might be the perfect opportunity to get the icky element out of the way by addressing it head-on.

The Flash features a host of character cameos from all over the DC universe. The story is also very emotionally charged if the latest trailer is anything to go by, with the numerous snippets all hinting that Muschietti’s film will put the entire live-action DC world into a nostalgic retrospect.

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney not knowing what ‘hard r’ means raises everyone’s eyebrows

Anyone But You looks like the kind of movie that only sells by the merit of a single hook, but the movie’s marketing team should probably have a word with the lead actors Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney over their definition of the phrase “hard r.”

The two stars are coming together in a new rom-com that’s apparently going to be R-rated. Anyone But You is the story of two people who apparently hate each other, but of course, we all know how that’s going to end by the time the credits have rolled.

Kevin Feige breaks his silence on the pressure ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is under to save the MCU

The MCU might not want to admit it, but the recent failings of Doctor Strange, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have put the entire cinematic universe in jeopardy. Now, most fans are looking toward James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to redeem this streak of middling releases, yet Kevin Feige isn’t inclined to treat this movie any differently from the rest of his creations.

In less than two weeks, the galaxy’s most chaotic gang of misfits is making a return for one last outing. Star-Lord and his crew will be going up against their biggest enemy yet, a villain whom you’ll almost immediately despise according to Gunn, so if it’s stakes Marvel fans want, it’s not going to get any higher than this. At least not until Kang shows up again to threaten the entire universe in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

New ‘A Haunting In Venice’ trailer teases a spooky expansion of the Agatha Christie Cinematic Universe

Not many films can claim to get more deliciously stylish than those based on famed writer Agatha Christie’s works; indeed, ever since Kenneth Branagh took up both Hercule Poirot’s shoes and the director’s chair back in 2017 with Murder on the Orient Express, the murder mystery author has gained unprecedented exposure to modern audiences (as though The Mousetrap needed any help in that department).

Now, the Thor director is set to do it once more with A Haunting In Venice, the second sequel to Murder on the Orient Express after 2022’s Death on the Nile, and judging by the upcoming film’s brand-new trailer, it looks like Christie’s renowned gumshoe will have a much spookier task on his hands this time around.

‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ gets new trailer confirming Amber Heard’s return as Mera

The first trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom debuted at CinemaCon on Tuesday, and it reportedly features Amber Heard‘s Mera in a battle scene. The trailer shows her briefly fighting, possibly in a white outfit but there are some competing rumors about that.

Deadline saw the trailer, and said both director James Wan and star Jason Momoa were not able to attend but appeared by video. Wan said the movie had “interesting new characters” and “beautiful strange new worlds.”

Here’s where you can stream John Mulaney’s new comedy special, ‘Baby J’

Former Saturday Night Live writer and stand-up comedian John Mulaney has had a rough couple of years. After his friends (including other comedians like Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader) staged an intervention for him, Mulaney checked himself into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. Shortly after leaving rehab, he then divorced with his wife of seven years, artist Anna Marie Tendler, who fans had formed a parasocial relationship with, largely in part to Mulaney’s frequent bits about how much he loved his wife. A few short months later, in September 2020, Mulaney announced he and partner Olivia Munn were expecting their first child together, and Munn gave birth to Malcolm Mulaney in November.

Mulaney kept himself busy during these tumultuous times by making guest appearances on shows and starring in animated films like Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers and Puss in Boots as Chip and “Big” Jack Horner, respectively. Now, the comedian is releasing his first stand-up comedy special since 2018, with the highly-anticipated John Mulaney: Baby J.

New ‘The Flash’ trailer sets an epic multiversal stage for Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck

They said The Flash should be canceled, that it was too late for this hero to make an impact, and that the controversy surrounding star Ezra Miller had gotten to be too much. All the while, Warner Bros. has been quietly confident about the Scarlet Speedster’s long-awaited first solo movie ⏤ some are even calling it the best superhero movie they’ve ever seen ⏤ and now a new trailer has made all those delays and bad press seem like a distant memory.

Whether The Flash really will dazzle critics and be a box office smash remains to be seen, though we can definitely say it’s going to be a superhero adventure jam-packed with content. As the new trailer confirms, we’re getting no less than two versions of Miller’s Barry Allen, the return of both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s Batmen, Michael Shannon reprising his Man of Steel role as General Zod, and the barnstorming debut of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.

‘Sonic’ developer SEGA of America is going fast toward unionization

On Tuesday, April 25, employees at SEGA of America became the latest to attempt to organize a union. The California-based team filed for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), an independent government agency that oversees all unionization efforts within the United States. The new union, Allied Employees Guild Improving Sega (AEGIS), has partnered with the Communication Workers of America (CWA) to bargain for higher base pay, improved benefits for all (healthcare, remote work, retirement), clear opportunities for advancement within the company, adequate staffing to end departmental overwork, and balanced workloads and schedules. 

The supermajority of 144 employees are spread throughout the company — marketing, localization, live service, and QA to name a few. Ash Parrish at The Verge talked with some pro-union employees, who claim that the mutual love of video games, especially those being made within SEGA, was enough to unite the various departments. Conversations about unionization encouraged interdepartmental friendships, which reportedly made the process easier. Although AEGIS will be voting for the recognition of the union, they hope that SEGA of America and SEGA of Japan will both voluntarily accept them.

Who voices Lylla the Otter in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?’

The theatrical release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is only a little over a week away, and after that tearjerker of a teaser clip, MCU fans are more than ready for May 5 to roll around. The clip showed us a rare glimpse into Rocket’s tragic past, where the beloved raccoon was locked in a cage while chatting with three other animal friends about a more hopeful future. Rocket and his friends decide to name themselves after the otter of the group chooses to give herself the name Lylla and, for those with a good ear (and knowledge of other MCU projects), Lylla’s voice may have sounded familiar.

While we only know pieces of Rocket’s backstory, MCU fans know it’s not a happy one and despite the hopeful words of Rocket and his friends, this clip only reinforces that. We hope we’ll get to see Rocket’s other animal companions in the present and see if any have realized their dreams, but we do know Lylla will be making an appearance based on an earlier trailer. The otter only appears about 10 times in the comics, but Lylla is a close friend (and sometimes love interest) of Rocket’s. In her original appearance, she was the heir of toy conglomerate Mayhem Mekaniks and fell in love with Rocket when he helped her squash a hostile takeover of her company. Given the film shows them in the same caged facility as part of Rocket’s backstory, it seems Lylla’s going to have slightly different origins.
