Bandai Namco’s popular horror puzzle-platformer Little Nightmares is releasing its third installment. And here’s what you need to know.
It’s been over two years since we traversed The Nowhere with Mono and Six in Little Nightmares 2, and Little Nightmares 3 promises a new adventure in the harrowing universe. Bandai Namco announced the game in August when they dropped the “Reveal Trailer” on YouTube.
In it, we see two new heroes — Low and Alone — working together to survive the desolate, decaying, and terror-stricken Necropolis. Where did the Dwellers go and who are the arid city’s new Residents? Those answers may be answered while the two children make their way through its runes.

According to a blog post on the game publisher’s website, Little Nightmares 3 is set to release sometime in 2024, although we don’t have a specific month.
The game will be available on all platforms — PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PS4, and Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One — so gamers have ample opportunity to investigate the Necropolis, “a city known for its eternal energy and certain death.”

On Oct. 27, we finally got gameplay footage for Little Nightmares 3. Eighteen minutes of dark ambiance and blood-curdling moments through “Monster Baby’s playground” can be enjoyed above via the YouTube player.
Judging by the walkthrough, Little Nightmares 3 plays a lot like Little Nightmares 2. The same sort of mechanics are used that we’ve come to expect with the franchise, like dragging objects and pulling levers to reveal ladders. And just like its second iteration, two children will work in unison to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
The biggest change in the gameplay is the addition of an online co-op mode. For the first time in the franchise, Little Nightmares 3 is a two-player game — Low and Alone can be played by you and a friend. But, if you go at it solo, then AI will become your companion.
The gameplay video begins with Low and Alone emerging from a mirror, an apparent travel device like the televisions in Little Nightmares 2. Both protagonists’ unique characteristics and abilities are shown as they navigate the Necropolis. Low, the older boy, wears a plague doctor mask, and Alone is a younger girl wearing a pilot’s hat.
They are both equipped with weapons — Low uses his bow and arrow for ranged attacks while Alone has a wrench for melee encounters. Both weapons aren’t just used to keep the Residents at bay, however. They’re needed to solve puzzles, making each character invaluable.
During the 18-minute nightmare, we watch as Low and Alone are pursued by Monster Baby while dealing with other familiar game mechanics, like staying out of a spotlight and opening gates with floor tiles.
The walkthrough wraps with the children seemingly being captured by Monster Baby’s massive hand and waking up on a bed in a dark room. Are they back in reality, or are they still in The Nowhere? We’ll find out when the game officially drops next year!

The latest bombshell report highlighting the franchise’s ongoing issues pushed the Daywalker’s do-over to the forefront yet again, which isn’t even surprising at this point given how many fresh coats of paint have been slapped onto the project in an effort to even get it in front of cameras, which still hasn’t happened.

In fact, according to Jeff Sneider and John Rocha’s The Hot Mic podcast, things got so heated that an unnamed high-ranking executive at Marvel has lost their job as a result, with Sneider relaying what he’d heard on the grapevine.
“He either tried to intentionally obfuscate what the draft was going to entail. Another source put it as he didn’t sound the alarm on the process and what trouble the project was in. And they’ve been, I’m told, that he was fired. Another source said it was a parting of the ways. I push back against that because I’m like, ‘Who leaves Marvel?’, right? It’s the dream job for most geek executives. I don’t think a lot of people are leaving on their own accord.
My source said, and you know Marvel didn’t comment on anything like this, but they said it’s one of the few times that anyone has actually ever heard Kevin Feige yell at someone. That was the quote. We could change that to ‘raised voice’, but it was one of the few times that this individual had heard Kevin ever raise his voice. So the executive on Blade – who I’m not going to name, you can maybe figure out who it is – is no longer with Marvel. And that is confirmed.”
Long before Fortnight popularized crossover events Scooby-Doo was galivanting through franchises and solving mysteries alongside the best of the best. After Scooby-Doo started re-airing on Cartoon Network, the franchise’s popularity skyrocketed. Wanting to capitalize on the popularity, Time Warner tapped Warner Bros Animation to make a direct-to-video animation. An experimental one-shot (or so they thought) the animation crew worked with little oversight, and the resulting project was a little darker and flipped the usual Scooby-Doo premise on its head.
With ample time and no deadliness, the crew was able to retouch where they needed, and were able to tweak the character’s iconic costumes to reflect a more modern time. The film brought back the original Gang, though only Fred Jones’ voice actor, Frank Welker, returned to the cast. Shaggy’s original voice actor, Casey Kasem, refused to voice Shaggy if the character was shown eating meat (Kasem got his way and by 2002, Shaggy was a vegetarian). A reimagined theme song performed by ‘90s grunge band Third Eye Blind, and the shift in tone made Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island one of the most popular films in the franchise. It’s success spurred a slew of follow-ups, and ensured the Scooby-Doo Gang’s popularity for years to come.

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase would mark the end of an era, with William Hanna’s death early that year. Subsequent films would no longer be co-produced by Hanna-Barbera; instead, they would be solely attributed to Warner Bros. Animation, with a copyright disclaimer for Hana-Barbera. The film started the transition from classic animation to Digital Ink and Paint – characterized by vibrant colors and cleaner lines – but the following entries would fully implement the change to match the art style from the 2002 television series, What’s New Scooby-Doo?

In 2009, Scooby-Doo’s production passed to Warner Premiere, a direct-to-DVD division, where it shifted away from the What’s New, Scooby-Doo? style and embraced the grittier style from Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Casey Kasem retired in 2010, and tapped Matthew Lillard, the same actor who brought Shaggy to life in the live-action movie years before, to fill the role. The following films returned the characters to their original Scooby-Doo, Where are You! costumes, and took some risks, including several musicals, an assortment of crossover characters, and even a puppet special.

Despite the Warner Premiere being disbanded, Scooby-Doo hardly suffered. The series continued to pump out at least one film a year, and banded with multiple properties to capitalize on fan interests. It hasn’t always panned out, and their crossovers with Lego, as well as the much-anticipated sequel to Zombie Island, are some of the most reviled entries the franchise has ever had.
The Gang is joined by multiple notable Co-stars from WWE Superstars, the band Kiss, and The Batman. While many of these off-kilter adventures have been met with solid fan approval, others have been deliciously shredded by the internet. But one thing is for sure, no one is mad about Kiss’s special written ode to Freddy’s favorite accessory, “Don’t Touch My Ascot.”

After all of the early Aughts success started to wane in the late 2010s, Warner Bros. tried to reinvigorate fan zeal. Scoob! was the studio’s only officially released 3D animated project. The follow-up, Scoob 2, was one of the unfortunate Warner Bros write-offs of the last few years. While the project was never released to the public, it was leaked in 2023, alongside a scrapped animated feature, Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! We’re not encouraging you to try and find the videos, however. If the rumors are to be believed, both of those projects were better off on the cutting room floor.

Seeing the success of the animated Scooby-Doo adventures, Warner Bros couldn’t resist the potential of a live-action movie. Despite phenomenal casting, a James Gunn screenplay, and a budget of nearly $85 million the movie failed to perform at the box office. Years later, cast members revealed that there was an R-rated version of the film, with James Gunn noting that it was supposed to be an adult take on the beloved characters.
Most of he follow-up live actions features faired just as poorly. Despite Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins having the most viewed telecast in recent history, the film sits just under 50% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

While we’re sure film buffs will tell us it’s not worth the money, Christopher Nolan’s latest epic Oppenheimer is finally coming to living rooms for the people who couldn’t hold their bladder for 3 hours.
The recording breaking Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as the titular scientist and “father of the atomic bomb,” J. Robert Oppenheimer. Documenting his rise within the academic community, his impact on the Manhattan Project, and his disasterous 1954 security hearing, Oppenheimer has managed to rack in nearly $1 billion worldwide, making it the 2nd highest grossing R-rated movie of all time, among other records.
As of November 2023, many theaters around the world are still playing the film, including 11 IMAX theaters still showing the film in the “ideal form” according to Nolan, 70mm IMAX. But for those who have yet to experience the film for themselves, they can finally enjoy the film from the comfort of their couch just in time for the holiday season.
Oppenheimer will be coming to Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital markets on November 21 in the U.S. That’s right, your family can gather around the TV and watch naked Florence Pugh after finishing Thanksgiving dinner, in case arguing over politics wasn’t controversial enough for you. Or bring the whole family together for Barbenheimer, as Barbie is also out on DVD. However, there’s no set streaming release date for Oppenheimer just yet.
In a post-COVID Hollywood, films have been coming to streaming within 45 days of their theatrical release window. However, Oppenheimer is going on 16 weeks in theaters, and if it follows the same track as Barbie, it won’t leave theaters until the DVD release is upon us. Barbie came out on DVD back on October 17, and yet there’s been no announcement on when the film will launch on Max. So if you’re choosing to wait around for the Peacock release date of Oppenheimer, you’re going to have to keep waiting longer.

The film that kickstarted the concept of the “summer blockbuster”, the 1975 smash hit Jaws, was Steven Spielberg’s second full-length feature, but its runaway success gave the director the latitude to direct more or less whatever he wanted in the years and decades to come.
In a time when sequels were nowhere near as ubiquitous as they are today, Spielberg chose to step away from the Jaws franchise, which eventually ran to four movies. And while it’s fair to say that none of the sequels quite measures up to the original, fans will find something to watch in each – one way or another! Here’s how to watch.
Jaws (1975)
The adaptation of Peter Benchley’s 1974 novel famously suffered from all kinds of troubles during production, including non-functioning prop sharks, members of the cast and crew getting seasick (Spielberg insisted on shooting on the ocean), and personality clashes between two of the principals, Robert Shaw (Quint) and Richard Dreyfuss (Hooper).
Despite these problems, Jaws turned out to be box office gold. An excellently paced film with shocks and suspense aplenty, critics loved it, and it propelled Academy Award nominee Roy Scheider (Police Chief Brody) to a whole new level of superstardom, and spent over three months at the number-one spot in the United States.
Jaws 2 (1978)
Like its predecessor, Jaws 2 had a troubled genesis. Its initial director, John D. Hancock, had never directed a blockbuster before, and bowed out midway through filming, to be replaced by Jeannot Szwarc, who promptly fell out with Roy Scheider, who doubted the movie’s quality and only participated due to contractual obligations. Alongside fellow returnees Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton, however, Scheider delivers a good performance. Revered film critic Roger Ebert detested it, but box office returns in excess of $200 million guaranteed a further sequel.
Jaws 3-D (1983)
The wheels began to fall off with the third entry of the series. With no actors from either of the first two films deigning to appear, the pick of the new cast was Dennis Quaid as the son of Police Chief Brody; Quaid’s career would take off months later, through his appearance in the critically acclaimed astronaut drama The Right Stuff. A preposterous plot involving a great white shark on the loose in an amusement park is not helped by shoddy production values and the clunkiest of scripts. At $88 million, the box office take was noticeably down on Jaws 3-D’s predecessor, but the film nevertheless did well enough to guarantee one more installment.
Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
“This time, it’s personal.” For Jaws: The Revenge, Lorraine Gary was coaxed out of retirement to reprise her role as Ellen, now the widow of Police Chief Brody, and the makers also somehow managed to entice Academy Award winner Michael Caine onboard as Hoagie, a seaplane pilot. The storyline ignored the events of the previous film, and featured a great white out for revenge on Ellen and her family. With such a loopy premise, and the now familiar troubles with props, the weather, and the script, the film struggled to turn a profit, posting just over $50 million in box office receipts. Caine, however, had the last laugh. As he mentioned in a subsequent interview: “I have never seen [the movie]… by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.”

Once again, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been stricken by bad buzz regarding the Multiverse Saga, and once more Blade has been caught right in the middle of it.
Ever since Mahershala Ali was first trotted out on stage at San Diego Comic-Con way back in July of 2019, the reboot has been lurching from one catastrophe to the next. Having failed to gain any sort of tangible forward momentum in almost four and a half years, there’s a lot of people starting to wonder if there’s even any point in making the damn thing at this stage.

One of the several bombshells dropped in the Daywalker’s direction was talk that one version of the script effectively relegated the title hero to fourth lead, which is bizarre to say the least. Michael Starburry is just one of several to have taken a crack at the screenplay, but he revealed on social media that particular revelation is news to him.
“I worked on a draft of this before the strike. Never saw a version where Blade was 4th lead or it was a “narrative led by women and filled with life lessons” but I suppose a lot could have happened since I had anything to do with it. He was in 99% of the scripts I was a part of.”
Of course, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t part of the drafts penned by either Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, or Nic Pizzolatto before Michael Green became the fifth scribe to try and whip Blade into shape, but at least we know Starburry wasn’t the one planning such a radical deviation from the formula.

New The Hunger Games prequel movie The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is set for release globally on Nov. 17th, 2023. Set approximately 64 years before the hit original feature that came out a decade ago, the new film follows a young Coriolanus “Coryo” Snow (originally played by Donald Sutherland, now played by Tom Blyth), future President of Panem.
Set during the early years of the Hunger Games tournaments, Snow is tasked with mentoring Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a musician and tribute from District 12 chosen to represent the region at the 10th annual Hunger Games. Baird is somewhat of a mythos in the original Hunger Games trilogy, as her legacy and symbolism to District 12, while only referenced by name, is shrouded in mystery. As the antagonist of the Hunger Games trilogy, Snow’s transformation from a mentor of a District 12 competitor to being hellbent on its destruction plays a major role in the story audiences are familiar with. Like the film trilogy, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is based on the novel of the same name by author Suzanne Collins.

According to IMDb, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes boasts a runtime of 2 hours and 4 minutes, or 165 minutes. When accounting for trailers, that’s a three-hour outing at the movies. The new movie is part of an ever-growing trend of blockbusters, particularly action-based blockbusters, that have been steadily growing in runtime length in recent years.
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is the longest Hunger Games film so far. The Hunger Games (2012) has a length of 2 hours and 22 minutes, while its sequel, Catching Fire (2013) is 2 hours and 26 minutes. The final two films, Mockingjay parts 1 and 2, released in 2014 and 2015, clock in at 2 hours and 3 minutes and 2 hours and 17 minutes, respectively.
So far, no announcement regarding a sequel to The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has been made. While a prequel film, this movie may be designed to be more of a standalone piece in comparison to The Hunger Games trilogy, which was split into four films. This may explain the longer runtime, as the story of the new film is probably much more self-contained, relying less on a guaranteed sequel or cinematic universe to continue its storytelling.

Death is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean we have to fear it, and that very idea is at the center of the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The celebration focuses on honoring and connecting with our loved ones, dead or alive, and it’s a beautiful and sentimental notion.
It’s evident that the Day of the Dead is meant to be a celebratory holiday by just one glance at the music, decor, and food created to celebrate the traditional holiday. Celebrated each year on Nov. 1 & 2, families gather together to celebrate those who have passed by creating colorful altars, or Ofrendas, to honor the deceased, as well as leaving gifts at their gravesites.
Many films have been released over the years to showcase the holiday traditions while also creating unique stories within the theme of Dia de los Muertos. Coco
Arguably the most famous Dia de los Muertos project on this list, the 2017 Pixar film Coco brings the culture to life with vibrant imagery and a catchy yet emotional soundtrack. Focused on the Rivera family, Cocotells the story of Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), an aspiring musician who attempts to break the band his family has on music.
In his escapades, he unintentionally causes himself to become invisible to the living but can now see the dead. Reuniting with his deceased relatives, Miguel has until sunrise to find out the truth about his family and return to the land of the living. You can stream Coco on Disney Plus.
The Book of Life
Reel FX Animation may be best known for the work they’ve done on other collaborative projects, but the animation studio made a splash with its 2014 take on Day of the Dead in The Book of Life. Before he emerged as Cassian Andor, Diego Luna starred as Manolo Sanchez, a young man who wants to be a musician rather than follow his family’s legacy. Somehow, he ends up with his deceased family in the Land of the Remembered. Sound familiar?
While on paper, The Book of Life and Coco have a lot in common; the films have wildly different takes on their family drama, as well as the source of conflict for each movie. Plus, though The Book of Life features some original songs, it takes on more of a jukebox musical vibe with performances of “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You,” “Creep,” and even “Just a Friend.” You can stream The Book of Life on Max.
Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life
While watching fictional stories about Dia de los Muertos are great, for those unfamiliar with the holiday, many of the film’s most prominent moments may be lost on them. If you want a more in-depth look at the celebrations, a 2020 documentary has you covered.

Macario
For those looking for a more mature take on the holiday, the 1960 Academy Award-nominated film Macario provides just that. The supernatural drama focuses on a woodcutter named Macario (Ignacio López Tarso), who, on the eve of the Day of the Dead, meets God, the Devil, and Death itself. Sharing a meal with Death, Macario ends up befriending him and is given the power of healing, but not without a warning from Death.
Regarded by many film critics as one of the greatest Spanish films of all time, Macario was the first to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Feature at the Oscars and even debuted at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival. Macario is available for streaming on Sling TV.
La Leyenda de la Nahuala
One of the most successful Spanish films in recent history, La Leyenda de la Nahuala, plays into the supernatural elements of Dia de los Muertos, offering a more horror-esque movie. Focused on the story of a haunted house with souls desperate to cross to the other side, two young brothers are crucial to fighting off a mysterious spirit called La Nahuala.
The film was a direct-to-DVD release in the U.S., but in Mexico, La Leyenda de la Nahuala spawned five sequels and a Netflix original series. Like the first movie’s theme, the Leyendas series focuses on different legends in each installment. You can stream La Leyenda de la Nahuala on Netflix now.

November 1st marks the first day of Dia de Los Muertos, and fans of the tradition unfortunately have a limited selection of films to help indulge the holiday. That said, it’s hard to complain when the limited fare includes Disney and Pixar’s instant classic, Coco.
The vibrant animated adventure is one of the best celebrations of life (and death) a viewer could ask for, and if that final musical number doesn’t leave you an emotional wreck, it might be time to speak to a therapist. On top of the gorgeous visuals and rhythmic beats, it’s also got one of the best villainous twists of all time.

“Seize your moment” almost seems like a “Carpe Diem” rip-off at first glance, but the phrase leaves a sour taste in the mouth when it’s applied to Ernesto’s actions in Coco.
Throughout the film, Ernesto talks about his rise to fame, emphasizing how he took control of his own destiny through action. He “seized his moment” time and time again, first by killing his partner, then by stealing his partner’s songs, and then by repeatedly cashing in on his supposedly high moral standing. He even seized his moment to silence Miguel, telling him, “Success doesn’t come for free, Miguel. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes to… seize your moment.”
We’re all for practicing what you preach, but maybe don’t take things as seriously as Ernesto de la Cruz does.

Tyler Christopher‘s untimely death at the age of 50 hit movie fans and soap opera fans especially hard.
Over the course of his career, which began in 1996, Christopher appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, but it was the characters he played in major soap operas that became his calling card. While most know him from his time on those soaps, Christopher played a variety of other dynamic characters as well, battling everything from ice storms and super volcanoes to mega quakes to murderous games.

General Hospital
Christopher’s time on General Hospital as both Nikolas Cassadine and Connor Bishop is absolutely unforgettable. When a show has been on the air since 1963 and nabs a Guinness World Record in the process ⏤ and is still beloved by devoted viewers ⏤ yeah, that’s the ultimate sign of success. The series originally focused on the staff of Port Charles’ General Hospital, but ultimately expanded to include the stories of those who lived in the town as well. If you expect me to explain over 60 years of soap opera story to you in a single paragraph, I admire your optimism. Suffice it to say that even if you’ve never seen this soap before, it’s truly compelling television worth checking out, especially with a talent like Christopher involved.
The Twilight Zone (2002)
The original Twilight Zone already had countless iconic episodes, so when Jordan Peele was announced to be at the helm of a reboot, the world strapped on its seat belts and braced for impact. Christopher appeared in the episode “One Night at Mercy” as Dr. Jay Ferguson, an up-and-coming medical professional who finds himself treating someone claiming to be Death. I won’t spoil the rest, but check it out to see just how amazing it is.
Days of Our Lives
From 2017 to 2019, Christopher’s character Stefan DiMera appeared on Days of our Lives and became an integral part of the trials and tribulations faced by the many inhabitants living in the fictional town of Salem. This soap opera is so iconic that Friends, The Simpsons, and even House have parodied it over the years. It’s no wonder why so many people remember Christopher for his time on the show, especially given that he won a Daytime Emmy in 2019 for Lead Actor in a Drama.
Shouting Secrets
Too many people forget that Christopher was a part of this fantastic 2011 indie film. Heck, too many people forget that this movie exists, and that needs to change! It has an audience score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes for a reason, after all. This multiple award-winning film follows the story of an Apache bestselling novelist named Wesley and his struggle to reconnect and reconcile with his family after his mother’s death from a stroke. Christopher played Wesley’s brother Tuska in the film and received an American Indian Movie Award in 2011 for his performance.
The Lying Game
The Lying Game is a teen mystery drama remembered fondly by many despite only getting two seasons. Christopher made recurring appearances as police officer Dan Whitehorse, who faces many difficulties including someone close to him attempting to charge his brother with murder and the love of his life being murdered before they can even get married. Yep, there’s a lot of murder in this one, and ABC Family really had something until the show was suddenly cancelled in 2013. Even if we didn’t get as much of it as we wanted, we thankfully have Christopher’s performance to enjoy whenever we feel like revisiting it.
