‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ reminds fans of its superhero’s tragic connection to windows

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ reminds fans of its superhero’s tragic connection to windows

Marvel fans went into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with high expectations after the success of the first film but also with some trepidation.

The sudden passing of Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa, was bound to lend an undercurrent of grief to the sequel and sure enough, the film opens with T’Challa’s funeral, acting as a memorial for both Boseman’s incredible life and the character audience fell in love with. While his character’s death was expected, Wakanda Forever surprised audiences with another tragic loss halfway through the film, complete with a second funeral after Queen Ramonda dies.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ fans second Angela Bassett’s sentiments on a shocking twist

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ fans second Angela Bassett’s sentiments on a shocking twist

Unless you had your head buried in the sand for the past few months and missed out on watching Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (even after its release on Disney Plus), it is a well-known fact that Angela Bassett is phenomenal in the film up until her tragic death at the hands of Namor. Having already bagged a Golden Globe for her performance as Queen Romonda, she is now up for an Oscar. But evidently, the heartbreak caused by her sudden MCU exit is still fresh.

Namor is one of the first characters to ever appear in the MCU archives and recently showed up in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever epic to be the one who took out the infamous queen. Fans are disappointed that Bassett will no longer be in the Black Panther films as it moves forward, although, in the MCU, anything is possible.

The most popular movie in an action icon’s entire ass-kicking career tears up the playbook on streaming

The most popular movie in an action icon’s entire ass-kicking career tears up the playbook on streaming

Gerard Butler almost exclusively makes what could broadly be described as Gerard Butler movies, and while nobody wants to be typecast or pigeonholed, the results speak for themselves. Plane is the ass-kicking Scotsman’s latest endeavor, and it’s proven to be one of his most popular yet.

At the time of writing, no film in the actor’s entire back catalogue has scored a higher audience average on Rotten Tomatoes than the 94 percent Jean-François Richet’s high-octane action thriller is currently sitting on, while the critical consensus has it ranked as his third best-reviewed bone-cruncher ever behind only Copshop and Greenland.

New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ footage shows how Marvel is already going toe-to-toe with the DCU’s ‘Gods & Monsters’

New ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ footage shows how Marvel is already going toe-to-toe with the DCU’s ‘Gods & Monsters’

In a move one can only describe as friendly comic book rivalry, Marvel tossed DC fans a bite-sized breadcrumb in the latest Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer. In it, Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne can be heard quite clearly referring to Kang (Jonathan Majors) as “a monster who thinks he’s a god.”

Those who’ve kept up with the latest comic book news will recall “Gods & Monsters” as the official title of the DCU’s new rebooted cinematic endeavor. Just as Marvel has its “phases” the DCU announced its “chapters” earlier this week when co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the studio’s upcoming 10 movies and TV shows slated for production.

5 ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ cameos that would blow the MCU wide open

5 ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ cameos that would blow the MCU wide open

If there’s one piece of fanservice that the Marvel Cinematic Universe does consistently well, it’s to drop in cameo appearances from fan favorite characters from the comics. In the case of Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or The Eternals, an appearance from John Krasinski as Reed Richards or Harry Styles as Starfox, respectively, generated positive buzz among fans amidst an otherwise lackluster superhero outing.

Similarly, an appearance from cult favorite Howard the Duck in a post-credits scene from The Guardians of the Galaxy rewarded the patient viewer willing to stick around after the movie was over, while a similar surprise appearance from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury to recruit Iron Man for the Avengers in the character’s 2008 MCU debut generated excitement and also served as notice that MCU head Kevin Feige had grand plans for the future of the franchise.

A cryptic ‘Scream VI’ tweet might have just inadvertently spoiled one of the movie’s killers

A cryptic ‘Scream VI’ tweet might have just inadvertently spoiled one of the movie’s killers

One of the most intriguing aspects surrounding the Scream movies is audiences trying to decide early on which canon characters are the selected killers. And while a handful of past perpetrators — namely, Billy Loomis and Stu Macher — seemed like obvious choices in Wes Craven’s 1996 original, other characters might slip through the cracks and not stand out as the evident culprits. With that said, fans will find it extremely interesting to learn that a recent tweet might have just inadvertently spoiled which character is set to be one of the killers in Scream VI.

Over on the official Scream Twitter account, a cryptic tweet, which was canonically written by Ghostface, mocks fan-favorite character Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), insisting that Kirby will suffer a tragic fate due to how beloved she is. For those that aren’t aware, Kirby was introduced in Scream 4 as the best friend of Sidney’s cousin Jill (Emma Roberts). You can check out the post for yourself down below:

Dedicated ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ subreddit reinstates embargo on J.K. Rowling discussion

A subreddit dedicated to discussions and news about Hogwarts Legacy is cracking down on J.K. Rowling discourse.

The once-celebrated author has become a divisive figure in recent years, after her toxic and transphobic views came to light. Her status as a TERF gives many former Harry Potter fans pause, when it comes to enjoying fresh Wizarding World releases, as they work to avoid supporting Rowling’s continued campaign against trans people — and trans women, in particular.
