New Birds Of Prey Trailer Is Positively Fantabulous

The Birds of Prey are on the loose – and Harley Quinn is certainly reveling in the mayhem.

Building on yesterday’s fantabulous teaser, DC Films has dropped the official trailer for Birds of Prey, a female-fronted spinoff movie from the mind of Cathy Yan and Bumblebee scribe Christina Hodson. Those who attended screenings of It: Chapter Two (another Warner Bros. joint) will no doubt recognize some of the shots in today’s sizzle reel, but this is still a dazzling, neon-drenched promo nonetheless, one which promises color, style, humor, and a whole lotta’ mayhem.

The gist of the plot appears to revolve around Harley Quinn (surprise!), who must forge a super-team alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary in order to safeguard Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) from the Gotham underworld. They’ll have a little help from Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), too, and up above you’ll begin to see the ways in which that star-studded ensemble falls into place.

Together, they’ll be joining forces against two primary villains: Ewan McGregor’s Roman Sionis – better known to you, I, and the people of Gotham City as Black Mask – and Victor Zsasz, played here by Chris Messina. They’ll make for formidable foes, but as today’s trailer suggests, the Birds of Prey will have many more hurdles to overcome before they’re a fully-fledged team. Also on board for this superheroine extravaganza are Ali Wong (Fresh Off the Boat), Robert Catrini (American Crime Story), Steven Williams (It: Chapter One) and Derek Wilson of Preacher fame.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) arrives on February 7th, 2020. It’s one of two big-name DC movies currently slated for release next year, what with Wonder Woman 1984 also on the cards for June 5th.

Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals First Gameplay For Terminator DLC

Well, here we are, folks. October has arrived and while that sadly means winter is on its way, the upside is that Mortal Kombat 11‘s first guest character is finally within reach. Due to debut next week in early access is the merciless Terminator first made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger and developer NetherRealm has released some gameplay to celebrate.

Frankly, words can’t do justice for what your eyes are about to witness, so we’ll just let the trailer below do the talking.

As it has done in the past with the likes of Predator, Freddy Kreuger and the Xenomorph, NetherRealm has absolutely nailed its adaptation of Arnie’s most famous film role for MK11, not just in terms of combat, but with subtle facial expressions and movement patterns, too. It’s a big help, of course, that the studio has secured the actor’s likeness for their version, but combined? The authenticity is almost overwhelming.

The icing on the cake, however, is undoubtedly the character’s mid-match transition triggered when Scorpion incinerates the Terminator’s synthetic skin right off the (metallic) bone. Whether players are able to choose when the robot sheds its disguise remains to be seen, though it seems that in doing so, the T-800 model receives some sort of defense boost.

Terminator becomes available next week, October 8th, for Mortal Kombat 11 and will be followed by comic book icons Joker and Spawn in January and March 2020, respectively. A long wait ahead, for sure, but if both guests receive the same level of attention to detail as our friend above has, the wait will be worth it.

As for Terminator, the latest instalment in the film series, Dark Fate, is scheduled for release in theatres later this month and marks the return of series’ creator James Cameron to the director’s seat.

Apex Legends Halloween Event Confirmed By Pathfinder Voice Actor

As if a brand new season wasn’t enough content to satiate the appetites of Apex Legends‘ player base, it seems Respawn already has plans in place for future updates in the form of a new limited-time event. Despite being forced to suffer through several months of content drought around launch, recent times have seen fans inundated with special celebratory occasions such as Iron Crown Collection and Voidwalker, the latter of which ultimately proved to be a home run for the developer.

It goes without saying, then, that Season 3 will continue where its predecessor left off in that regard, and thanks to recent comments provided by Pathfinder voice actor Chris Edgerly, we now know what shape Apex‘s next event will take. Speaking to Dexerto, Edgerly revealed that Halloween will soon make its mark on Kings Canyon (or will it be World’s Edge?) with a raft of festivities not to be missed.

“The Halloween event coming up is going to be simply amazing,” says Edgerly, adding that he’s “recorded some new stuff for a short for it, where Pathfinder has a much bigger role.” An interesting revelation, no doubt, but one made all the more surprising by confirmation of Pathfinder’s upcoming exposure. The happy-go-lucky robot is the only one of his kind currently part of Apex Legends‘ roster and, as recently achieved with Wraith and Crypto, it appears as if Respawn intends to flesh out the bot’s backstory in much the same way. What’s more, Edgerly promises that the event will feature some “creepy, scary, kick-ass designs,” but declines to comment any further.

What format (time-limited mode, new items, map changes, decoration, etc.) Respawn means to adopt for its Halloween extravaganza remains to be seen, though if prior leaks are any indication, expect an invasion of giant spiders and some truly gruesome skins to earn. Stay tuned for more details!

Marvel’s Blade Reboot Will Feature Two Fan Favorite Villains

Blade is coming to the MCU in just a few years, with the new movie starring Mahershala Ali as the Daywalker promising to open the door to the supernatural corners of the franchise. For the first time, vampires, werewolves and other monsters will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it seems the Blade reboot will dig deep into Marvel’s horror lore.

We Got This Covered has heard from our sources – the same ones who told us Taskmaster will be the villain in Black Widow and the real Mandarin will be the villain in Shang-Chi – that the new Blade will feature two fan favorite characters as its antagonists. As we previously reported, one of these will be Count Dracula himself and apparently, he wants to turn everyone into vampires.

As for the second villain, that’ll be Vampire By Night, another fan favorite from the comics. Real name Nina Price, Vampire By Night is the niece of Jack Russell AKA Werewolf by Night. A unique hybrid of vamp and werewolf, Nina isn’t actually a villain in the source material – she’s worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Howling Commandos – but apparently, Marvel will retool her as a foe in the movie. Though it’s entirely possible that she may end up switching sides in the end.

Her family connection may just tell us a third fan favorite who’ll show up in the film as well, as there’s been talk that Russell could make his MCU debut in Phase 4, so Vampire By Night’s appearance suggests that this will happen in Blade. A Werewolf by Night spinoff is apparently in the works, too, and as such, a supporting role in Blade and then a solo movie or even a Disney Plus series for the character sounds like a plausible plan of action. What’s more, sources have informed us that a Midnight Sons team-up film is in early development at Marvel as well, which could be another place we’ll see both Blade and Werewolf by Night.

Unfortunately, all of this is way off in the distance as Blade is yet to even get a release date. Though given that Ali’s already attached, we imagine things will begin to kick into gear soon as Marvel gets ready to bring us their new take on the beloved character.

Charlie Cox Likely To Return As Daredevil In The MCU Movies

We’re coming up to a year since Daredevil season 3 aired, bringing the Netflix show to a premature close, and fans are still not giving up on the chances of Charlie Cox’s Man Without Fear returning to the MCU in a different form in the future. As we all know, Marvel isn’t allowed to do anything with the Defenders for a couple of years yet, but it’s possible they could make the most out of the hero after that time in a way that would really please fans.

Sources close to We Got This Covered – the same ones who told us about the Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk TV shows before they were officially announced – say that Marvel wants to get Cox back to play Daredevil in future MCU movies. Nothing’s set in stone just yet, but we’re hearing that this is the studio’s current plan as they feel there’s too much potential with the character to waste him. Of course, there’s been talk of the Defenders shows being relaunched on either FX or Hulu as well, with the original actors returning and if this does happen, then Cox would appear on both TV and in the films. Just like Disney Plus characters such as Ms. Marvel.

This intel follows on from our recent report that Marvel is considering using Matt Murdock as Peter Parker’s lawyer in Spider-Man 3, following him being framed by Mysterio. They’ve yet to decide, though, on if they should use Daredevil or She-Hulk AKA Jennifer Walters in the role. Fans have been calling for a Spidey/DD team-up for years though, so you can bet that most will hope they go for that option, as cool as a She-Hulk crossover would be.

We’ve also been told Marvel hopes to have Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in the MCU as well. And while we don’t currently know if they wish to do more with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage or Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones just yet, it’s very unlikely that we’ll see any more of Finn Jones as Iron Fist. In fact, the protector of K’un-Lun could be rebooted in a Shang-Chi sequel.

Comical Resident Evil 2 Mod Turns Mr. X Into A Miniature Tyrant

Capcom may have moved onto new projects since the release of Resident Evil 2‘s long-awaited remake earlier this year, but the modern masterpiece is a far cry away from leaving the public eye, thanks to a certain Umbrella-sanctioned creation. Reliving Claire and Leon’s parallel tale of escape from the doomed Raccoon City was a memorable occasion, no doubt, but the two protagonists’ star quality was promptly outmatched by their fearsome enemy.

The result of carefree experimentation with the T-virus, Mr. X is the fan-given codename for Resident Evil 2‘s Tyrant, a lumbering mountain of muscle with superhuman strength and a fantastic dress sense. With a towering height of over 7 feet and a left hook strong enough to punch through solid concrete, the character, quite rightly, has earned its intimidating reputation, so much so, that some fans have even taken to removing him from the game entirely in order to avoid a change of underwear.

Thanks to the recent efforts of a certain modder, however, one need no longer fear the plodding giant. A video uploaded to YouTube by user Albert_Fn_Wesker has revealed a new look for the meme-spawning horror icon. See if you can spot the difference below.

New Resident Evil 2 Mod Replaces Mr. X With Jason Voorhees

It’s a sentence I’d never have dreamt of writing before, but damn, does Mr. X look adorable. As it turns out, reducing the size of any nightmare creature down to the size of a pint glass works wonders in removing its scare quality, though don’t be fooled. Miniaturized it may be, but the Tyrant’s smaller self can still bust through doors (in hilarious fashion) and deliver a knockout punch to your ankles at a frightening speed.

Fortunately, the mod’s creator has compensated for the shrinkage by reducing Mr. X’s hitbox, though that has had the knock-on effect of making Mini X considerably harder to hit. A fair compromise, I’d say, and I look forward to trying this one out in my next Resident Evil 2 playthrough. Brilliant.
